Chapter Text
Superheroes. Everyone loved them. I personally didn’t care one way or another, but I did appreciate and respect them, especially after I really needed one.
There were people running away from something so I stepped out of my flower shop to check out what the ruckus was, and like usual, a villain was wreaking havoc.
I sighed as I rolled my eyes to head back inside until I heard a shrill scream right across the street.
My head spun around to find where the voice came from. I noticed a woman was stuck under a large street lamp that had fallen from the tremors of battle. A little girl was crying and tugging at the lady’s arm.
Immediately, I rushed across the street and tried to lift the heavy pillar.
“It’s okay! I’ll get you out!”, I promised. In all honesty though, it was just so heavy, and as much as I tried, it wouldn’t budge!
I heard a bloodcurdling, unnatural shriek coming from the direction people were running from and my eyes shot up to find some kind of monster smashing through the cars that
were left behind in the commotion.
I took a deep breath and went back to concentrating on the task at hand.
The villain was coming closer and my heart was beating so fast.
I wasn’t sure I was going to get the woman out, and tears started to form at the corners of my eyes as the little girl was clutching her mom’s hand.
Fuck. We’re gonna-
“DIE!!!!!”
My eyes flashed up and a hero was soaring over us before he came down full force on the villain with a literal bang.
It didn’t take long for the creature to be incapacitated, and once the police came for the villain the hero noticed me still trying to lift the pillar.
He called out as he stomped over, “Oi! Get the hell outta my way, weakling! Let me do it.”
What the fuck?
I laughed in disbelief, “Excuse you, asshole. I’ll ask someone else. Thanks.”
He smirked, leaned his hand on the pillar as he came close to my face, and quietly remarked, “There ain’t nobody but me, Toots. Now step aside or I’ll lift your dumb ass too.”
I blushed at how close he was, but I sighed in defeat and got ready to help the woman out from under.
After we got her out, she threw her arms around my neck and cried, “Thank you so much, heroes!”
I stuttered, “O-oh, I’m n-not a-“
“Yeah! I’m the only god damn hero here lady!”, the man butt in.
The woman picked up her crying child and smiled with tears in her eyes, “That’s okay if you’re not. You tried to save me all the way til that monster was right on top of us and showed no signs of stopping. That makes you a hero to me. Have a nice rest of your day, Miss and Dynamight!”
Dynamight? Where have I heard that?
She walked away and I glanced at the hero next to me. When I made eye contact with him, I rolled my eyes and walked past him back to my shop, which immediately triggered his ego.
His gravelly voice called out as he quickly followed, “Hey! Do you have absolutely no respect, you little shit?! Not even a ‘Thank you’ for saving your sorry ass?!”
I scoffed as I continued walking, “I don’t just hand respect out just cuz you wear a fancy outfit, Spiky.”
“Spi… Did you just fucking call me ‘Spiky’?!”
I shrugged as I walked into the store, “I calls em like I sees em.”
I was yanked back as he grabbed a handful of my T-shirt. He growled, “Oo, you got spunk for someone without a fucking quirk.”
I gave a sarcastic laugh, “Ha! And you got some nerve putting your grubby mitts on my shirt!”
His narrow, crimson eyes glared at me through a black eye mask as I smirked back at him. He was cute. Super cute, but I had no energy for his crappy attitude.
I swatted his hand off my shirt as I walked further into the store and sighed, “Get the hell out of my shop. I’m sure you’ve got some superhero-y stuff to do anyway.” I turned around just as I heard him take a deep breath to start bellowing and added, “And thanks for the help earlier… Dynamight.” I gave him a smile that was sweeter than he deserved, but I walked behind the counter into a back room where I groaned and flopped into an office chair.
I stared at papers on my desk as I rubbed my temples.
What a prick. Still…
I logged into the computer and searched “Dynamight”.
So many articles popped up about him. He apparently graduated from the Hero Academy in town and quickly rose up the hero ranking and into the Number 2 spot after Endeavor.
He was a couple years older than me, but had already achieved so much. No wonder he became second so fast.
I clicked on images, and I giggled as I noticed he had the same scowl in every picture. In the action shots, I imagined his obnoxious voice screaming through his big mouth.
As I was creeping on him online, I didn’t realize that the shop was supposed to be closed 15 minutes prior. So, I quickly shut everything down and started to head out.
I was locking the back door when a voice startled me.
“Oi! Pansy!”
It was him. He was leaned up against the opposite wall of the alleyway. He had his arms crossed and I took note of his very attractive arm muscles as I gave him a look of disbelief and replied, “What the hell do you want?”
He closed his eyes and through a gritted grin he responded, “Keep talkin’ like that, and I swear, you’ll regret it.”
I cocked a hip and sarcastically said, “Alright then. May I help you, Mr. Dynamight?”
He loudly snapped back, “DO YOU WANNA FUCKING DIE?!”
I sighed, “Meh… Not really. I got a shop to take care of and bills to pay. Was that all you wanted to ask?”
He quickly appeared in front of me and I could see his cute face seething as he loomed over me and growled, “Can you just shut the fuck up and listen?”
I tried holding back a smile as I raised my eyebrows and waited for him to continue.
“What’s your deal? You don’t have a quirk; normal as shit. You babysit flowers all day, for fuck’s sake, but you talk like you’re better than me.”
I wasn’t expecting him to ask anything like that. I kind of just stared at him for a moment before I straightforwardly admitted, “At this point, I just think your reactions are cute.”
Expectedly, that caught him off guard, and he blinked at me with wide eyes before a deep blush crept onto his face.
He quickly turned his back to me and resumed yelling, “WHAT KIND OF STUPID ASS ANSWER WAS THAT?!”
I smiled a little as I nonchalantly shrugged, “I don’t know. I was just being honest.”
I noticed the tips of his ears were red too but he never turned around as he kept yelling, “S-SHUT UP!!”
I giggled a little, “Alright, I’m going home then, Dynamight~.”
I turned to start walking home but was stopped when I heard him grunt, “Katsuki.”
I looked back at him, “Huh?”
He was still red and scowling as he repeated louder, “Katsuki Bakugo. That’s my real name.”
I smiled, teasing him a little bit more before I left, “Huh, cute name for a cute face. See ya.”
As I was walking away, he barked, “STOP CALLING ME CUTE, YA DAMN PANSY, OR I’LL FUCKING KILL YOU!!”
I didn’t spare him a glance as I waved and called back, “Death it is then! Bye!~”
When I finally got home and after I finished my night routine, I plopped onto my couch and started flipping through a garden magazine while the news played in the background.
My eyes flashed up the second I heard him on the clip they used, “DIEEE!!”
I turned the volume up and watched as he fought the villain we were met with earlier.
“The Explosion Hero: Dynamight has saved the city from yet another villain. There has been word of him appearing on a talk show soon for a very rare interview. Stay tuned for more news to come.”
I clicked the TV off and decided to turn in early, but as I laid in bed, my mind wandered to Katsuki.
I blushed as I sleepily laughed, “What a cutie.”
It had been a couple of weeks since my first encounter with Katsuki Bakugo. I kept my eye on him in the same way everyone else did, which was through the news.
He was being praised for his usual hero stuff, and since I had a little crush on him, I liked seeing him on TV and making sure he was alive. Luckily, he was very much alive, and I was able to see for myself.
