Chapter 1: A Jealous Whale

Chapter Text

Lee Jun Ho had never been one to become so disorganized or confused in his lifetime. While he lived a mundane life nothing too spectacular or grand he seemed to always feel that something was missing. He followed a daily routine and had a good job working at one of the biggest law firms in Korea, but there was something he felt that was misplaced. He had never managed to figure out what was missing in his life until Woo Young Woo appeared in his life.

Of course he had dated in his life before so he was no stranger to love. Except none of his relationships had stirred such complicated emotions in him before. It made all his other relationships he had before seem like a mere teenage crush. When he had first met Woo Young Woo it was at the front of the building of Hanbada. She was having trouble getting through the revolving door and due to his character he had felt the need to help such a confused soul. While it wasn't love at first sight it was the beginning of their relationship. He hadn't expected there to be several meetings between them as he thought that would have been the first and last time they would have seen each other.

Woo Young Woo complicated a lot of his emotions. What grew from confusion to curiosity to infatuation soon became romantic feelings. They came at him like a whirlwind and hitting him unexpectedly. He had never expected them which made what he was feeling more powerful. One of them being jealousy.

"Young Woo-ah thank you." Kim Byung Gu who was recently Woo Young Woo's client and had once been Woo Young Woo's childhood crush had reappeared.

Young woo-ah? Did he just call her Young Woo-ah? When did they become close enough to drop honorifics. He himself still called Woo Young Woo Attorney Woo. This called a tightening in his chest as he realized they weren't as close as he thought they were.

"Yes. Is there a reason why you came by to see me?" Young Woo asked Kim Byung Gu.

It was getting hard for Jun Ho to not glare at Kim Byung Gu or go over to them now to interrupt them.

"So I was wondering if you were busy this week? The ferry to go to Kampo Island are at a discount and I knew you liked whales so I was wondering if you wanted to go with me." Kim Byung Gu presented two tickets to Kampo to Young Woo and Young Woo face brightened up. Her fingers started moving and her hands were pressed together when she was excited.

Jun Ho felt an enormous amount of jealousy and disbelief. He scoffed and couldn't believed what he had just heard. He thought it was evil that Kim Byung Gu had used the ideas of seeing whales to entice Young Woo to go with him. He was certain the Kim Byung Gu was the devil's spawn. It was unfair and simply too cunning. Suddenly that jealousy that he had slowly disappeared and became despair. Realization hit him that him and Young Woo had not established a relationship between them. They were only co-workers to each other. While Young Woo had confessed to him that she had developed feelings for him he was unable to give her back a response back then when they were interrupted by Seokdang's Eugene Park running away due to embarrassment. He hadn't found another opportunity to give her back a response ever since that day.

With a pained expression he got up and decided to go print out the copies that he was suppose to do a minute ago. However the words of Choi Su Yeon echoed in his head.

"Then establish boundaries with Young Woo! Make things clear about the relationship you two have!"

Jun Ho's despaired dissipated and he became motivated to interrupt the conversation they were having.

As he made his way to Woo Young and Kim Byung Gu he was stopped by Kwon Min Woo telling him that they needed to head out. With that he gets dragged out by Kwon Min Woo before he got the chance to intervene.

"But wait I-"

"Come on we're going to be late."

Relunctantly Jun Ho follows Min Woo and as he leaves he steals glances at Young Woo and Kim Byung Gu.

--------------

"Thank you for your offer Kim Byung Gu-shhi. However I don't think I can go with you as much as I appreciate your offer. It is my duty as a lawyer to do my best to argue your case. As well I don't want to see whales with you. There is someone that I want to see them with. Someone I like and who likes to listen to my whale talks...Besides I don't have any days off." Young Woo drops her hands and bows down to Kim Byung Gu leaving him with a stunned expression. She opens the door to her office and continues to do her work.

"Ahh so she has someone she likes. I guess I was too late." Kim Byung Gu says and stares longingly at Young Woo and smiles sadly before he leaves.
