When Jon was 12 or 13, his grandmother became exasperated with Jon’s indecision about his hair and allowed it to grow. It was shoulder length, and he was mistaken for a girl somewhat regularly. That was the last time he truly felt good about himself, but he has not drawn any larger conclusions from that as to why.
Elias wonders if Jon would like to be seen as a woman. Would he like to wear feminine clothing? Pretty dresses and skirts and jewelry? He would look absolutely gorgeous in a dress, high heels, and red lipstick. [...]
Now that Jon is home, where he should be, Elias needs to help him settle in, and Jon needs clothes. [...] Elias takes Jon’s measurements, and he takes an excursion into the city. He buys Jon a variety of nice trousers and shirts, a few suit jackets, boxers, and socks, but he also purchases… other garments.
