Chapter Text
Ik-jun was in trouble.
And Jun-wan was too.
And so was Song-hwa…kind of.
And Seok-hyeong was definitely – definitely – in trouble.
And Jeong-won? Oh, only God knows.
“Gyusonim, so how’s it going with Min-ha unnie? Sorry I had to leave you with her. She didn’t answer my call earlier.”
Gyeo-ul’s voice could barely come through from Ik-jun’s phone to his ear. In a muffled voice with a panic he tried to hide, he replied, “Oh, she’s doing great. She’s having fun. We’re here doing karaoke.”
“That’s a relief. She’s been feeling down for a while now.”
“I know…she’s really, um, spirited tonight,” Ik-jun replied.
“It’s my turn!” Song-hwa declared.
“NOWAYDONTEVENTHINKABOUTIT!!!!” Jun-wan screamed at the top of his lungs.
“Gyeo-ul, I—“
“Sorry, gyusonim, I have to go now," the General Surgery resident suddenly said in a hurry. "A patient just arrived for me down at the ER. I’ll talk to you later." Gyeo-ul dropped the call before Ik-jun could say another word.
Ik-jun stared at his phone, the memory of the satisfied tone in Gyeo-ul’s voice still fresh in his ears. She really put her trust in him that night.
“Ikjun-ah, make her stop!!” Jun-wan cried out, helplessly pointing to the far end of the couch where Song-hwa sat. She guarded the song book from Jun-wan with all her might.
Lips tight and brows furrowed in concentration, Song-hwa pressed the buttons of the remote with purpose. She wanted to sing at least three songs on her own without anybody disturbing. This was her moment.
Ik-jun stared at his two friends in horror, both their cheeks a bright red and their eyes more glazed than they were an hour prior.
“Where on earth is Jeong-won right now?” Ik-jun muttered, brushing his hair back in frustration. He didn’t know where the sane one of their party went.
Ik-jun’s eyes scanned the room, even though he knew full well that it was only him, Song-hwa, and Jun-wan together doing noraebang. And Ik-jun was the only sober one of the three of them.
Despite the story that Gyeo-ul had been told, Ik-jun was not there with Chu Min-ha. He did not know if she was great, or if she was having any fun – whatever kind of fun it was. And she definitely was not there with them doing karaoke.
In fact, Ik-jun had no idea where Chu Min-ha been for the last hour.
And just like the song that Song-hwa was now singing with more enthusiasm than tonality: “Uh-oh, we’re in trouble! Something’s come along and it’s burst our bubble, yeah yeah!”, with Jun-wan's added "Ugh, Song-hwa, you're the worst!" in the background -
Ik-jun knew for sure that he was in deep, deep trouble.
