Chapter Text
Yoichi stood at the front entrance of UA, a frown on her face as she quickly went through her current Quirks. She was planning on being forward about her true Quirk, but still it was smart to wait until she could talk to her sensei before revealing she could use more then one in the first place.
This meant she wouldn't be able to use more then one Quirk, maybe two related Quirks.
She winced as she moved in a certain way, a large bruise was hidden under her shirt. It was given only this morning, a reminder of what would happen if she told anyone about her mission.
It was a little awkward standing among the other examines knowing she was a year older then all of them, her father had decided to send her in a year late in order to 'train' her more as well as condition her behaviour to be more suitable for the task she was currently on. She was meant to spy on the Heroes at UA, giving information to her father if it was necessary or a threat to the League.
She glanced around the large room, mostly ignoring the instructions coming from the Hero Present Mic as she sized up her competition.
There were quite a few with powerful Quirks, it would be difficult to win the attention of the staff. A flash of green caught her eye, causing her to turn in the direction she had spotted it in curiosity.
The source of the green was a kid about a year or so younger then her, they had green hair and green eyes which glowed with excitement and nervous energy. However that wasn't the only thing she was caught of guard by, surrounding the greenette almost protectively were seven adults.
No one else seemed to see them but her and the greenette, if the way he reacted every time the adults spoke was any indication. It made her curious, something she had a bad habit of delving into. With a tilt of her head she walked over to the boy, wondering if perhaps he would be a worthy friend for however long she ended up staying.
"Hello, what's your name?" Yoichi asked curiously, she had an alias of her last name that she was using as not to get suspected should her adopted older brother attack the school or make a debut.
The greenette turned and flushed in embarrassment when he realized she was talking to him, something she found mildly amusing.
"A-Are you talking to m-me?" The boy asked, looking almost ready to pass out. Yoichi wonder what that was all about, but didn't ask considering it was rude.
"Of course I am silly, who else would I being talking to?" Yoichi questioned with a playful smirk on her face, it was one of the many habits she picked up from her father. She was sarcastic, sassy, and playful. Though her father took the last one to a much darker place then she did, after all she didn't think torturing someone was fun.
"I don't know..." The boy muttered in return, she noted the adults surrounding the greenette seemed almost wary of her.
"Well my name's Yoichi Kakureta, I am sixteen." Yoichi introduced with a smile." I was held back a year, so I'm a little nervous about starting when I am older then all my peers."
The introduction seemed to confuse the strange adults, but the boy just gave a shy smile and decided it was alright to introduce themselves. Yoichi tried to give off a feeling of understanding and comfort to the nervous teen in front of her, but she didn't know if she managed to succeed in the endeavour..
"M-My name's Izuku Midoriya, I'm fifteen." Izuku replied and Yoichi beamed, happy to get a response. She must have done the introducing correctly, since the boy wasn't to upset with her about it.
"It's wonderful to meet you!" Yoichi chirped happily." What's your Quirk, mines called Give And Take!"
Almost immediately the adult's around Izuku tightened their formation, as if ready to spring into action the moment she did something they didn't like. However Izuku just smiled hesitantly, shifting as if unsure of how to respond to the Question.
"Um, I'm sorta Quirkless." Izuku said, his voice hesitating when stating that he was Quirkless, which suggested he was lying." I understand if you don't want anything to do with me because of that."
Yoichi blinked at the words, confused as too why it would matter that the greenette was Quirkless.
"Why would it matter if you were Quirkless?" Yoichi questioned in genuine confusion." Quirks are just tools, why would I be bothered about you not having one?"
Izuku blinked in astonishment, looking at Yoichi like she had grown a second head. She hadn't said something weird, had she? She bit her lip trying to think of what she had said that surprised the greenette, but couldn't figure it out.
"You do realize that the Quirkless are considered scum and worthless in today's society right?" Izuku asked slowly, a concerned frown on their face.
Yoichi tensed, she hadn't realized that at all. Most of her life she hadn't even left her house, spending most of her time locked in her room or training with her father. She hadn't been allowed access to the news or the internet, which had been upsetting to her when she was younger. Though she considered it normal at this point, having accepted it as a fact of life.
"Um, no...I didn't realize." Yoichi admitted with a wince." This is the first time I've actually left my house since I was born, my father is...protective of me."
A horrified expression made it's way onto one of the adults surrounding Izuku, they looked like they had paled several shades. Which was impressive considering they looked fairly sickly and thin, she wondered if they were ok.
"What do you mean you haven't left your house?" Izuku asked looking wary of the potential answer.
"Um, well other then my father being over protective, I also had to be trained every day since I was four and my Quirk came in." Yoichi admitted, giving a nonchalant shrug." I often get out of the training with bruises, cuts, and broken bones, it's just normal."
Izuku's green eyes hardened in disbelief, as they started in complete horror. Had she said something wrong, it didn't seem like it. Wasn't this how ever teen was taught and trained?
"You do realize that's abuse, right?" Izuku asked looking sick, but she just tilted her head not really understanding what the greenette was talking about." Oh god, you don't know what abuse is, do you?"
She shook her head, feeling oddly guilty at not understanding what the teen was talking about.
"You need to get a staff's attention immediately." The sick looking adult from before told Izuku urgently, the greenette tensed and nodded.
"Hey, Kakureta-chan, would you be willing to come with me to see someone?" Izuku asked looking hopeful. Normally Yoichi would have immediately rejected the offer, but something inside her was telling her it was ok to go with the greenette.
"Sure!" Yoichi said with a smile, feeling proud as a look of relief stretched across Izuku face.
"Great, follow me!" Izuku said before heading over to Present Mic who was beginning to give bus assignments to the teens taking the exams.
She was curious as to what Izuku wanted her to talk about with a teacher, but shrugged it off deciding it wasn't important. The sickly man from before was giving her wary looks, but otherwise held a concerned expression.
"Can you hear or see me?" The sickly man asked her, she hesitated before giving the man a quick glance and nodding her head just a tad.
"First, we shouldn't be speaking with them." A spiky haired man spoke to the sickly one, shooting glares towards Yoichi. She knew a lot of people who found out her heritage were less then kind to her, but the spiky haired man was even less so then normal.
"It's a possibility she's my Niece, I can't let that go, Second." First stated looking annoyed with the spiky haired man.
"Seconds right though, what if she's exactly like her father?" A third man spoke up, his sandy hair brought back into a pony tail." She looks exactly like a female version of them, she even has several of their personality traits from the few moments we've been around her."
"Considering that man is my brother and you two still gave me a chance, I don't think you have a right to talk about whether she's anything like her father." First snapped at the two other men.
Yoichi was curious about them, did they know her father. If they did it was almost certain that they didn't have a good relationship with her father.
"I just think your assuming she's like you, when there is a equal chance she's like him." The pony tail man stated simply, which First seemed to consider for a few moments." I know you see yourself in the girl, but you need to remember to be cautious. If she is in a similar situation then great, we help her...but there's a chance she might not need or want help."
Izuku came to a stop, having already drawn in Mic's attention while she had been busy. The two were talking as Yoichi tuned the strange adults out, Izuku was sounding nervous and Mic looked worried.
"Hello, Kakureta, was it?" Mic asked and Yoichi nodded in response, giving the Hero a small smile." Can you explain just what your father does to you?"
"He keeps be in my room whenever I am not eating or training." Yoichi said slowly." The room is always locked from the outside, so only my father and brother can enter. I get three meals a day, usually high in protein to supplement my training. As for training, I usually am trained for eight hours in row, more on weekends though. I haven't been outside the house or allowed online for anything since I was born, this is my first time experiencing the real world!"
Present Mic looked mildly disturbed, his face having gone slightly pale. What was so odd about her life, she was the same as everyone else, right?
"I see what you mean, Midoriya." Mic stated, turning to face the greenette." Stay here, I will fetch Nedzu and Eraserhead, we need to get this checked out. Thank you for bringing this to my attention, we'll make sure your friend is alright."
Izuku nodded gratefully, once more confusing Yoichi on what was going on. First seemed almost relieved at the words Mic spoke, but that didn't make any sense. Had her father done something he shouldn't have done, if he did then what was it? This thought ran through her mind as she tried to understand the strange situation she had found herself in, perhaps this was part of the exam?
"Hey, um...so First says you can see the Vestiges?" Izuku commented once Mic was out of hearing range. Yoichi blinked, before Izuku gestured to the adults surrounding him.
"Oh yes, I can see the adults surrounding you." Yoichi confirmed with a nod." Most of them seem to hate me though, if the glares are any indication. Not that it matters to me what they think, I am curious about the one they call First though."
"I would be surprised if you weren't." Izuku admitted shifting slightly." I mean he does think he's related to you, I heard what they said."
Yoichi nodded, a small smile on her face.
"Yes, if they are related to me then I would be honoured, they seem really nice and sweet." Yoichi said." Their nothing like my father though and father says that people related to each other are meant to hurt each other."
"That's not true, my mother doesn't hurt me!" Izuku protested looking horrified." Most family's are kind, happy, and other positive towards each other."
For the next few minutes Yoichi talked to Izuku, her confusion growing with each thing the teen boy said. It made it seem as if the life she always knew was wrong, but she was happy wasn't she? It was all she knew, she should be grateful to her father for feeding her, giving her clothes, and providing a roof over her head.
By the time Present Mic returned with two people, she was conflicted and honestly scared that she had been wrong about her father. No one else was given bruises when growing up, no one else was sent into a room that could only lock from the outside, and no one else was expected to infiltrate a school when they were sixteen.
"Ah, is this the girl you were talking about Mic-kun?" a small stoat asked Present Mic when they spotted me.
"Yup, she's definitely the one I have a worry isn't safe at home." Present Mic admitted, the green haired boy brought her to me." By the way, thanks for bringing this to our attention, Midoriya. Since you both missed the exam, you'll be taking private exam for the practical portion. If that's alright with you."
"Sure thing, Present Mic!" Izuku said with an eager nod, relief clear in their green eyes.
"So how are we going to do this, the only one who might have time to use their emergency fostering license is All Might." the black haired man stated, making Yoichi blink. Emergency foster license, what was that?
