Chapter Text
Tim Drake just time traveled.
Don’t ask him how because he doesn’t know either. He doesn’t even know all of the rules of time travel. Is there things he should and shouldn’t do? He doesn’t have a clue. Which might seem odd because you would think he’s had some experience with different timelines and such. Which yes, he has. Doesn’t mean he knows what he’s doing.
But right now, he needs to figure out where AND when he is. Because that information might be helpful.
“Huh…funny.” Tim says to himself. He realizes that he’s in Gotham. To his surprise, the city he knows to be dreadful, seems…bright. It seems more vibrant and alive. Which is a good thing when Gotham is known to be dark and gloomy.
He walks around to see a glowing billboard downtown stating the date and weather.
Twenty years in the future. That’s when Tim was.
In this timeline, Tim would be almost forty years old. Wow. Just the thought of that made Tim shiver. Not that he was scared to grow old. Oh no, it’s quite the opposite actually. He kinda figured he would be dead by now. Not to darken the mood or anything.
Luckily, Tim’s wearing a hoodie. He can easily hide himself. He might need to do so when he eventually goes somewhere. He’s thinking about walking to the library to do some research. Familiarizing yourself with the world around you can’t hurt.
The library hasn’t changed much. I mean, the old architecture is as beautiful now as it is in Tim’s timeline. He walks in and goes straight to the computers.
Technology sure has developed since then. Hell, this is the tech that’s in the batcave. So, at least Tim can actually use the computer. Still shocking to see such impressive technology being the public standard.
“Okay future Tim…lets see what your up to…” He mumbles to himself as he relaxes into the library chair. FYI, he’s definitely not doing a google search. He’s going deep.
But not because he wants a lot of information. He doesn’t want to find out EVERYTHING because what’s the fun in that? Instead, he decides to find out where future Tim lives, his phone number, etc.
And Tim is off. He jets down the happy streets of Gotham, which he’s still taking time to adjust to. He reaches the address. A nice town home with a good amount of privacy, considering it’s to close to the center of the city.
He contemplates ringing the doorbell or breaking in. Which would be weirder? I mean he’s a vigilante…he definitely knows how to sneak in without being noticed. But…Tim definitely knows he’ll have good security, so breaking in might be a challenge.
Fuck it. He’s breaking in. He disarms the security system, (which honestly took quite a few minutes because, damn talk about good security systems.) and goes in through one of the windows.
Tim doesn’t even take a good minute to look inside before going in. He’s too excited. Nervous, but excited.
He hears footsteps coming towards the room he’s in. He quickly figured out he was in the kitchen once he stepped inside.
Holy shit. It’s his future self. Older Tim is a little taller, but not extremely tall…yet tim feels so inferior right now. He has a light beard, and slightly longer hair then Tim has now. He’s bulkier than Tim is now. Apparently Tim’s metabolism finally slowed down a bit.
They stare at each other for a good minute or so before little footsteps come crashing in.
“Dad! Dad! look what I found!” says a little girl in a sparkly pink tutu.
Oh my god I’m a dad! oh my god I’m a dad… Tim thought to himself. Tim hasn’t really thought about his future. It’s hard to think about the future when there’s a good chance you might not be alive the next day. Tim doesn’t really know how to feel right now.
If anything, he’s scared. His dad wasn’t around too much before his mom died, and Bruce was the textbook definition of emotionally unavailable. Tim definitely didn’t want to be like that. But luckily, that’s not what he turned out to be.
“That’s great sweetie but how about you go play in the living room, okay? Daddy needs to talk to someone.” Future Tim says to the little girl holding a cool-looking rock.
“Hi…” Tim says shakily as he fully removes his hood.
“Hi. I’m guessing you know who I am.” Future Tim claims with a slight smirk drawn upon his face. “Sit down. I guess we should talk.”
