Leon was really regretting giving Chris the extra key to his apartment. He almost dropped the pisspoor amount of groceries he had dragged in, settling for letting them dangle from his hands. He swept one hand behind his back and hoped Chris didn’t hear the clink of glass bottles connecting.
But at this point, Chris couldn’t blame him for drinking. Not when he walked into his desolate, barely used apartment to the sight of Chris hovering over a glass terrarium on his coffee table. He was locked onto the little green thing tucked in the top corner clinging to the glass wall.
A frog.
A fucking frog.
A green stupid frog with stupid big red eyes that looked like there was absolutely nothing going through its stupid head.
“It’s a red eyed tree frog.”

“I already told you, I don’t have hypothermia,” Lance says. “I’m okay. I’m just really, really cold.”
Keith raises an eyebrow. “What do you think hypothermia is?”
“Oh, don’t get all technical. I—”
His body betrays him by breaking out into another fit of shivers, so violent they leave him dizzy, his vision dark at the edges.
It knocks most of the fight out of him, and he sits there for a moment, feeling miserable and pathetic.
“Look,” Keith says, his voice low and infuriatingly kind, “you can drop the act. I know you. I can tell when you’re not okay.”
Lance stares at him, feeling exposed and cut to the bone.
“I could get better on my own,” he says.
“You won’t,” Keith tells him bluntly. “Not unless you let me help you.”

Getting stranded in a cave during a blizzard is bad. Having to rely on Keith Kogane for warmth is… complicated. Lance survives the night. Figuring out what it meant is another story.

Alright Bernard. You were raised in Gotham, notoriously one of the— if not the— most dangerous city/cities in the world. You’ve been around the ballpark. You know better than to open suspicious boxes of unknown origin. This could be filled with a toxin. This could hold a box-sized cannibal goblin. This could explode the moment he cuts it open.
Bernard hikes his shirt collar up over his nose, grabs a knife (for self defense as well as practical use), and just sends a quick prayer to Dionysus that this chaos manifests in some way other than an explosive, because he doesn’t really have a way to protect himself from a bomb. Then he cuts the box open.
