Ever since he was a boy, Chad could see death.
It started when he was four. Chad was out playing in the park, Mama and Morgan off to the side, when he saw a man in a black suit standing by the side of the swings.
That was odd, and Chad went to go run after him, but a car drove by and when he next looked, the man was replaced with a deer.
A dead deer.
Mama had taken Bambi off the movie list because Chad couldn’t handle that, let alone actually seeing it.
Maybe he was overly sensitive to the paranormal, but that was fine. It helped him figure out where danger was. The amount of times he had seen Death, standing and waiting out of the corner of his eye— it was innumerable.
Which is why Chad was so confused to see Death’s face on a billboard.
Of course, it didn’t say that it was death. The suave businessman in the photo was identified as Rex Roofer, up and coming businessman.
But Chad knew, intimately, that man was death incarnate.
