Chapter Text

Morgan’s parents were going to be disappointed in them.

It was the day they got to pick their patron god, and Morgan was going to pick the God of Chaos.

Morgan had been raised by the Pantheon, they had an excellent history of all the gods. Their parents wanted them to pick their own patron deity, the God of All Gods.

But that wasn’t the path Morgan wanted. Any time they wandered the hall of statues, they found themselves drawn to the God of Chaos. They’d spend ages just staring up at them, feeling like the god was looking down on them. That the smirk on the statue’s face was a smile meant for them.

Morgan finished climbing the stairs to the god’s altar and placed his gift for the god down beside him. He’d slaughtered the animal himself— now he needed to prepare the meat.

Soon the sheep was skinned and the meat was seasoned with the herbs Morgan had collected. The gift was ready.

Morgan hefted the gift onto their god’s altar before kneeling. They summoned what little magic they held in their body and said, in their most serious voice:

”I, Morgan Sterling, choose the god of chaos as my patron god. I pledge myself to serve only them.”

Morgan felt the magic was over them and nearly fell over. It was far, far stronger than they’d anticipated.

“Morgan Sterling.”

Morgan looked up to see their god, clad before them in fine robes and gold chains, wearing the smirk that made Morgan choose them over all other gods.

Their god extended their hand out. “It’s a pleasure to finally have you here with me.”
