Work Text:
Peggy needed to get out of this building right now! Her so-called colleagues were looking for her, as if she were some wanted criminal who tried to destroy New York. She was so close to finding the Russian girl that currently lived on American soil. The trained Red Room assassin. So close! And yet Peggy was so far away from discovering who she really was because she was currently chased by her own people.
How did she even get in such a situation? Long story, and all that is important for us at the moment, is that she’s hiding outside of her apartment building on a small highlight in a height that would kill her if she were to fall down. Her friend Angie was currently distracting her co-workers in her own apartment. Before Peggy could even think about it, the window to her friend’s apartment opened. For a moment her heart stopped in fear but then a reassuring hand pulled her inside the apartment. She sighed in relief when she felt the steady ground beneath her feet.
“Oh god, Angie you’re amazing. Thank you so much!” Peggy breathed, her heart still pounding fast. It was not very pleasant to fear falling down in your secure death.
“I knew you didn’t work at the phone company,” Angie exclaimed. Peggy looked down. She didn’t like lying to her friends but for her job it was necessary. “I understand it though. Your secret is safe with me,” the waitress smiled. And Peggy could not be more thankful.
“Thank you again, Angie. I really appreciate it. I just… right now I really have to go. They can’t find me here,” Peggy stated matter of factly while looking at the door for a brief second.
“I understand,” Angie nodded and immediately pulled her friend in for a final hug. “Goodbye, Peggy. I hope to see you again sometime. And don’t get caught,” she chuckled to play down the situation.
“I hope so, too. And I’ll try my best,” Peggy smiled before she left hurriedly. She left her friend’s apartment and headed for the stairs. But before she could even set foot in the hallway, male voices from afar came closer with every second.
“Bloody hell, they’re coming here again!” Peggy cursed under her breath silently. A rush of panic hit her. She had nowhere to hide now. Knocking on Angie’s apartment again would draw attention to her. Hiding in her apartment was not an option. And it would cost too much time to climb outside of her window and onto the dangerous path on the outside wall again. So what should she do? Her brain couldn’t reciprocate at that very moment, so she did nothing, she just froze in her place.
As the voices came closer and Peggy’s mind froze even more, another door in the hallway opened inaudibly and a strong woman exited her apartment. She ran towards Peggy on tiptoes and grabbed her arm.
Shocked by the sudden movement, Peggy’s whole body started trembling for a moment. The woman put a finger on her lips and motioned for her not to speak. Peggy nodded and swallowed her fear. The woman led her through the hallway quickly and back into her apartment. As soon as the door was closed, she pushed the big shelf in front of the door.
“Dottie?” Peggy whispered shakily, “How-? What are you doing?”
“Saving your ass…” she answered shortly. The usual innocent behavior she originally showed turned into a focused and determined expression. Her eyes were ice-cold and her voice deeper, not as chirpy and sweet as ever. She even looked different, her blonde hair was neatly put into a stylish bun and she wore a black jumpsuit.
Dottie listened for a moment how close the men were before she turned to Peggy. She looked her in the eyes and finished her sentence from a few seconds ago, “…Agent.”
Peggy’s eyes widened as the riddle in her head suddenly turned into one full piece. Her breath hitched as the realization hit her.
“It’s you! You are the Russian assassin. You…” Peggy stopped as her mind finally realized who was standing in front of her. Then another question formed in her mind as the male voices were loud and audible in the hallway.
“Why did you help me?” she asked, stunned, brows furrowed and confusion all over her face.
“Because I can. And because you’re my mission,” the blonde answered casually as if things like this happened all the time. Her voice on the opposite changed and showed some kind of… softness? Peggy wasn’t sure.
“Your mis- I’m your mission? What’s your mission?” Peggy asked although she suspected what the answer might be. And if she was right then she’d be even more confused.
“Oh, killing you of course,” Dottie smiled deadly as she stepped closer to the Agent.
Peggy shook her head in disbelief, her mouth opening slightly. She didn’t understand a single thing anymore - there were a million easier ways to kill a target; to kill her. ‘Why tell me?’ she thought. It didn’t make sense. Peggy sighed once more and then bravely took a step towards Dottie, too.
“Well, why haven’t you yet? Are you too shy to kill me?” Peggy teased with a hint of seriousness in her voice. She knew that was probably not the best idea but she wasn’t just going to stand here in fear. That was not her way to handle things anyway. And she needed to know.
“Careful Agent, you might die today,” Dottie smiled mischievously, biting her lip seductively.
Peggy scoffed and rolled her eyes playfully. “If you really wanted me dead, I think I wouldn’t be standing here right now.” This was dangerous territory but she didn’t care.
“Maybe…” Dottie smirked, “Maybe I just waited for the right moment to kill you. Maybe I just didn’t want your male friends to find you before me because I know, Agent Carter, it’d be quite unpleasant for you,” she continued. It was magnificent how easy she took this situation and how playful it was for her. Her eyes never left Peggy’s and oddly enough, the brunette didn’t have the need to break the contact. Because of that she felt safe to step even closer to the blonde so that she was invading her personal space.
“Well,” she breathed, “if you really wanted to wait for the right moment to kill me, then you’re really sucking at your mission.”
A shimmer of anger flashed through Dottie’s eyes before it quickly returned to amusement. Her hand surged forward and grabbed Peggy’s jaw harshly. “I wasn’t finished talking,” she whispered. Peggy could feel her breath on her lips, that’s how close they were.
“Maybe I really wanted to make your death more painful at a time when no one cares for you, Agent,” there was silence before she talked again, “But maybe I just wanted you all for myself.” Her voice was dangerous and even deeper now. Just after she finished talking, the blonde pushed Peggy back so her back hit the wall. Inaudibly, of course, so no one would hear them.
A silent groan left Peggy’s throat involuntarily.
“You know,” Peggy started and gulped, her voice a mere whisper, “you should’ve killed me before. Because now I definitely won’t let you.” With that, she tried to free herself with a quick motion but Dottie seemed to be one step ahead of her. A cold knife suddenly brushed over her neck. Where did that come from? Dottie chuckled.
“Oh Peggy, I didn’t ask for your permission,” she smirked slightly and showed Peggy her power over her. The brunette gritted her teeth when suddenly a terrible idea hit her. One that Dottie would clearly enjoy but was the only way to make this not her deathday. Distraction. Without a second thought Peggy surged forward and captured the assassin’s lips with her own. She kissed her hard to gain control but Dottie wouldn’t have it. Her eyes widened for a second but then that devious smirk of hers returned to her lips.
Their lips met hungrily. They fought for dominance until Dottie bit Peggy’s lip and caused her to moan pathetically. That’s when the winner for control was clear. Alright, if the blonde wanted to play games, Peggy could surely join in. The kiss grew from fierce and hard to hot and passionate in a matter of seconds. Dottie pressed her body against Peggy’s and pulled her closer at her shoulders for more contact. She seemed to enjoy herself greatly and Peggy didn’t seem uninterested either. The tension grew with every rising second. Peggy returned Dottie’s gesture from before and bit down on her bottom lip until she tasted blood. That caused Dottie to moan audibly. Peggy used that moment of weakness and took over control. She slipped her tongue inside of the blonde‘s mouth and moved her hands to her waist to pull her closer. The knife in Dottie’s hand pressed flat against Peggy’s neck seemed so utterly useless for the Russian. The blonde moved her hands quickly and pulled at the brunette’s hair with a strong grip.
After a long and very hot kiss they parted, catching their breath. Neither stepped away from the other, not even a little bit.
“This was nice. Perhaps we could do that again when you’re not trying to kill me?” Peggy breathed heavily as she held onto Dottie’s body. She tried to keep her cool when in reality, her heart was almost flying out of her chest.
“Depends,” the other woman panted, her eyes dilated, “you’re making my mission awfully hard. You’re a great kisser.” She whispered the last part into the Agent’s ear and ran her tongue over it shortly after. Because of that, Peggy pushed away the Russian assassin with a quick motion.
Only now she realized what had happened. She kissed Dottie, a Russian assassin which makes her her enemy. But the most important question of the day was: Why on earth did she enjoy the feeling?
She looked the blonde in the eye. What had she done?
Yep, she kissed her enemy and she liked it. Something in her subconscious told her they would meet again soon. And they would kiss again. Peggy even wanted to kiss her again; to feel those hot lips on her.
She was truly and absolutely fucked.
