“I just don’t understand how you eat the stuff at all, but especially not in this disgusting weather,” Padmé said, leaning against him as he ordered a double scoop of chocolate ice cream, packed with fudge and chocolate chips, in a chocolate-dipped waffle cone. “Even worse, that looks like something Korkie would order.”
Anakin lifted his hand, licking the top of his ice cream before giving an exaggerated sigh, closing his eyes. “You don’t know what you’re missing,” he said with a grin.
“I’m missing out on a stomach ache, how ever will I go on?” She smiled, wiping fudge from under his lip.
“You’re such a mom.” He stepped to the side for his wife to place her order. “Go on with your boring requests.”
She shot a look at him over her shoulder, lips pursed. “Have to be between Luke and Leia, and dealing with you and Ahsoka.” She loved her husband dearly but he definitely hadn’t outgrown parts of his childhood. So much of it was taken from him when he lost his mom, though, it was endearing to see him regain it over time. Even if it meant bearing witness to chocolate ice cream disasters and whatever trouble he’d stir up down the road with their kids by his side. “I’ll just take a single scoop of mango sorbet, thank you,” she said to the cashier, handing over her card. “And in a separate cup, can I get a small scoop of plain vanilla?”
“Sorbet and vanilla. Watch out people, my wife’s getting crazy over here.” He nudged her with his knee as she tucked her wallet back into her purse.
“You better watch yourself over there. Or you won’t get to see me drive you crazy later,” she murmured, quirking an eyebrow. “And I know you want to.”
He shivered and rolled his shoulders as she winked, brushing her hip against him. “Don’t you tease me like that, I’ll cause a scene right here.”
Padmé quickly took the two cups of ice cream from the employee, not missing the side-eyed glance she gave the both of them. As she walked away, swaying her hips slightly, Anakin let out a low-whistle making her laugh.
“You wouldn’t dare,” she said as she swapped spots with Ahsoka at the picnic table outside the ice cream parlor and pulled the stroller closer to her. Leia rose first, followed by Luke, grabbing at the air at the sight of the treat showing over the edge of the bright pink cup.
“Ice cream, ice cream, ice cream!” They chanted, wide-eyed and all smiles.
“Yes, yes, ice cream. Now sit back down so Mama can give you both some.” She waited until they both settled in before she alternated giving them both small spoonfuls.
"Hey, Padmé...." Anakin sat across from his wife, clearing his throat until she looked at him. He took a slow bite of his ice cream cone, humming while licking chocolate from his lip, keeping his gaze fixed on her the entire time.
She blushed, quickly flicking her eyes away. They settled on the orange fruity dessert in front of her, anything to escape the fire in his eyes. “Anakin, stop it. You are too much.”
He leaned across the table as she tucked a strand of hair behind her ear and hiding her face. He lifted her chin, waggling his eyebrows. “Oh yeah? That’s not what you were saying when I—”
“For the love of all that is good in the world, do not finish that sentence!” Ahsoka shouted from right behind him, making a gagging noise.
Padmé startled, letting out a sudden gasp at her reappearance. Anakin swung himself around so quickly at his wife’s reaction, the top scoop of his ice cream rolled right off the cone, landing with a splat on the ground. “Oh, come on!”
Ahsoka snickered. “And that’s what they call karma.” She threw her leg over the bench, catching her shoe on the edge. Jerking forward for balance, she sent her own cone flying out of her hand. They all watched, as if it were happening in slow motion, while it tumbled to the ground.
“No, Snips. That’s what you call karma.”
