Lucius could only giggle again. His body felt like a sack of wet sand and his head felt like a buoy bobbing along on heavy, slow moving waves. Edward offered him the pipe again. “One for the road,” he said, smile crinkling around his eyes. Lucius accepted, feeling Stede shuffle closer, Edward asking him in a hushed whisper in his ear if he remembered their word. He reclined his head, resting it on Edward’s arm, and closed his eyes in bliss, nodding in confirmation as he exhaled. “Good,” Blackbeard said, voice rumbling in his chest. “Now relax yourself, boy. You know how this goes.”
