The Monster Within

Summary:

"My own mother thought I was a monster. She was right of course but it still hurt."

Notes:

This was written for Poetry Game: July 2022 Edition: One of the five elements

Work Text:

She was perfect, no more than that,

The people looked at her with awe and terror, she saw what she wanted in the mirror

The precious protagy, the little girl who could

Every day she would try harder if she would,

but it never was enough to turn their eyes, the judgement they were too afriad to say to her face, she struggled with their silent mockings of their judegment.

They all laughed at her, hated her, her friends turned against her,

precious little obident Mai betrayed her for her failure of a brother Zuko, Ty Lee the happy servent had left her side, unable to process,

Azula was paralyzed within her own mind, her own body, the perfectionism killing her inside,

the flames licking in her belly, the anger, the frustration,

she twisted her feet and stood her ground...
