Chapter Text
A flash of white flooded Azula’s senses, it overwhelmed her, she couldn’t open her eyes. She slowly heard the voice of a woman fill her ears. “Sokka… Sokka! Wake up!” She heard the woman yell. Azula slowly sat up, “Get up we have chores, you’re already late!” She said, seeing the woman leave.
Azula rubbed her eyes to get the sleep out, which is when she noticed something was wrong. Her finger was… thicker, her hands were coarse, her nails were cut short. She pulled away her hand and finally saw that her skin was a lot more tan than when she went to sleep.
She looked around, the white light was the walls of an igloo. She looked down, to see her chest was completely flat, she pulled up the covers to confirm that she was indeed inside the body of a man. Azula felt her head get dizzy, she struggled to stand up and walked to the mirror in the room, picking it up to look at her face.
Her jaw was chiselled, her hair was a lot shorter, she ran her hand through it, feeling the shaved sides. She picked up a hair tie off the floor, it took a few tries to get it looking good. She tied it back into a wolf’s tail, not a hairstyle Azula was familiar with, but she knew a ponytail so it wasn’t that hard. “Where am I?” She muttered to herself, before grabbing some clothes and leaving the igloo. Azula wasn’t used to the cold, nor was she able to firebend in this body, not even waterbending. She had a very large parka on, along with some thick trousers.
The white snow in almost every direction was just as blinding as waking up in the igloo. She looked out towards the ocean, chunks of ice floated off into the horizon. Azula realised she was really in the Water Tribes, Southern one by the lack of ornate ice buildings. She wondered what happened. Kidnapping? Couldn’t be, she wasn’t even in her own body, how could they know her significance as princess. She also didn’t seem to be confined, though there wasn’t much to confine her from. This village was the only thing in view in any direction.
It must be spirits, but why? Were they trying to show her something? Warn her? There were no spirits around, at least none visible to her, the only thing she could do is try and go about the day as normal and assume whatever fate awaited her would reveal itself with mercy, and that whoever she was swapping with wasn’t ruining her life as she tried not to ruin his, best not to make enemies out of someone controlling you body.
