Summary
The doctor hums and clips the x-ray onto a lit board. He smiles sadly at Yoongi and then at Namjoon and then says, “You’re growing thorns around your heart, Kim Namjoon-ssi.”
“Sorry?” Namjoon furrows his eyebrows. “Thorns?”
“Thorns,” the doctor confirms. He looks at the x-ray, “Like ones on a rose. You have a rare kind of Hanahaki Disease, Kim Namjoon-ssi. You see, the thorns manifest pretty quickly; they wrap around the heart almost immediately after someone’s feelings for you become apparent and you fail to return them.”
It’s Yoongi who asks this time, “Not flowers? Isn’t that…isn’t that what Hanahaki is? Flowers growing in your lungs? And wouldn’t it have been growing in the person whose love isn't returned?”
