Taehyung glances at Jimin and brings their clasped hands to his lap, “But we’re individuals, too. A you. A me. A composition of us. But that doesn’t mean that a you and a me is not also an us. It’s still us, always us. We just get to be you and me, too. You and me? We’re mes first before we’re an us. But that doesn’t mean you know me less than you already do.”
Jimin thinks he’s an us first before he’s a me, but he doesn’t say that. He just looks at their clasped hands when Taehyung says, “That doesn’t mean I love you any less than I already do.”

Summary
The doctor hums and clips the x-ray onto a lit board. He smiles sadly at Yoongi and then at Namjoon and then says, “You’re growing thorns around your heart, Kim Namjoon-ssi.”
“Sorry?” Namjoon furrows his eyebrows. “Thorns?”
“Thorns,” the doctor confirms. He looks at the x-ray, “Like ones on a rose. You have a rare kind of Hanahaki Disease, Kim Namjoon-ssi. You see, the thorns manifest pretty quickly; they wrap around the heart almost immediately after someone’s feelings for you become apparent and you fail to return them.”
It’s Yoongi who asks this time, “Not flowers? Isn’t that…isn’t that what Hanahaki is? Flowers growing in your lungs? And wouldn’t it have been growing in the person whose love isn't returned?”

“No, no, no, no, no,” Taehyung whispers to himself as he makes a last minute executive decision to spin on his heels and run in the direction he just came from.

He laughs, the beautiful, lip-ringed, tattooed stranger from the café laughs. Taehyung can feel his cheeks burn and as if his head swimming wasn’t enough, now he feels like he’s floating.
