“Sherlock, hurry up, It’s already getting late,” John said walking into his room, not bothering to knock.
“Almost done,” He said as he traced the last bit of his eyelids with the black eyeliner pencil.
He and John had scored some fake IDs and were eager to try them out so they were going out to a hole-in-the-wall gay bar they had both been keen to go to since they heard about it and tonight was the night they went.
“You look stunning,” John said, leaning over where he was sitting and kissing him clumsily making them both giggle.
“This is going to be great, are you ready to go?”
“Yeah, just let me grab my coat.” He said getting up and grabbing his leather jacket from his bed. “Let’s go,” he said.
He and John raced down the stairs and out the front door laughing the whole way.
To be honest they were both already a bit tipsy. He knew John would probably be nervous about the fake IDs so he decided to pour them both a drink from his family’s liquor cabinet to calm their nerves just a few minutes before.
The bar was actually surprisingly close to his house so they had convinced their parents to let them sleep over there so that they could sneak out (although there was no one home to catch them) and go together.
“Do you think anyone’s going to know?” John asked as they walked.
“Probably not, the key is pretending you belong there.” He said confidently.
“If you say so,” John said shrugging, not all the way convinced.
“Let me do the talking and we’ll be fine, it’s going to be fun.”
“Yeah, I know. I just don’t want to get caught.”
“I don’t either, so let’s just not,” He said and linked his arm with John’s.
Soon they were walking up to the bar where they saw a man standing out in front of the bar’s door checking the IDs of anyone that was trying to get in.
“Let’s go,” He said leading the way. He didn’t particularly care for drinking or the bar scene himself but he knew John really wanted to do it for the full teenager experience of sneaking into a bar. He had mostly agreed to make sure people kept away from his boyfriend.
There were about three people in front of them in the line but the bouncer seemed to know them so the line went quick and soon it was their turn to present their IDs if they wanted to get in.
“Evening,” He greeted fishing his fake ID out of his pocket.
“Evening,” the man returned “Nice to see some new… faces around here.” He said obviously checking them out.
“Um, yeah. We heard about this place from some friends” John said.
“Oh did you? What friends? I might know them if they come here often.” The man said.
He didn’t have to turn his head to see John’s nervousness, he could sense it which meant there was a chance that the bouncer could too.
“From our dormmate, Jamie, and his friend, I forgot his name.” He said smoothly as though they really were in college and knew someone named Jamie.
“Hmm, I don’t know them. Well, IDs, please.” He said sticking out a hand.
He and John both handed them over.
The bouncers eyes hardly skimmed over them before handing them back “Have fun,” he said and he and John both hurried in.
It was colorful and the music was loud but he still heard John when he told him how nervous he was during their three-minute conversation with the bouncer.
“Let’s go get some drinks, shall we?” He said taking John’s hand as they walked to the bar.
Right, when they were almost to the bar he stopped in his tracks causing John to look back at him.
“What is it? You’re not getting cold feet now, are you?”
He subtly pointed to a couple sitting at the bar. John looked over and swore.
“Are you kidding me? After all this, your brother and his boyfriend are here?” He whined.
“Whatever, we can go another time,” He said sighing and turning to go.
John of course followed him grumbling something under his breath.
When they were almost to the door however he felt a tap on his shoulder. When he turned to look he saw the disapproving face of his older brother scowling at him.
“What the hell are you doing here?” He asked angrily.
“We were just leaving, Myc. This place seems boring anyway.” He said rolling his eyes.
“We’ll talk about this later,” Mycroft said eyes darting to John.
“Whatever,” He said grabbing John’s hand and leading the way out.
“I’m telling Mummy,” Mycroft said after them which he answered by flipping him the bird without even turning around.
When he and John were out of the bar and halfway down the street they both started laughing. Not only had they been caught but they hadn’t even gotten to do anything which somehow made the situation even funnier.
