Work Text:
Nighteye is just getting shuteye.
Of course he’s coming back!
That’s my boss — my comrade!
He always has my back!
From the moment we met,
I knew that he’d be the mentor for me.
I know that he was bleeding from his eye,
but that doesn’t mean it’s possibly his time!
(He’s lying in the bed,
and the doctors pronounced him dead.)
“You’ll be okay,” he said.
And he’ll be okay, too!
It’s just another dangerous day for us heroes —
another dangerous day for us heroes.
We’ll bounce back like usual.
And his glasses will be fixed, too!
(The flatline took its final breath.
Mirio, please — just accept his death.)
Sir, where’s the light in your eyes?
C’mon, come back — don’t be shy!
We’ll fight together side by side.
Till the night comes,
till the day dies.
(He’s dead, Mirio.
Dead and gone.
Why, instead of a poem,
don’t you accept
what you’ve been feeling
all along?)
Sir’s not gone.
He’ll come back.
(Sir is gone.
Mirio, go back.)
Back to where?
(Back to your home.
Your dad is waiting for you.
He knows you feel alone.)
But my home is with Sir,
whose home is my home.
(It’s not your time yet.
Now go back to your true home.)
Will I see him again?
(Maybe someday, indeed.
You’re a hero as well, an unsteady steed.
The heroes will die.
The villains will die.
Some of them will laugh,
and the others will cry.
And the rare ones will just sigh.
Death comes and goes back
to get whoever it wants when it’s time.
Mirio, come on.
Sir will be just fine.)
Will I be fine?
(Sure you will.
Healing takes time.
Just be still.)
But my home is with Sir,
whose home is my home.
(Mirio,
it was his time to go.)
Will I see Sir again?
(When it’s your time.
Now c’mon, Mirio.
Sir will be just fine.)
Do I have to accept it?
(No, take your time.
Until then,
let’s make a little rhyme.
Sir Nighteye isn’t dead.
He’s just getting shuteye.)
