“Why would someone willingly get rid of their emotions?”
There are lots of reasons as to why someone would get rid of their emotions. Maybe they had met someone that made them feel special. That saw them for who they were and still loved them anyways. And then suddenly that person had betrayed them and their trust, so they had to leave the place they had come to call their home.
And now years later all they did was wonder if any of it had ever truly been real. So in the end they had sought it best to rid themselves of those pesky emotions that seemed to plague them wherever they went.
