Work Text:
Hey Mina!
Long time no see, huh?
(To the
brave girl
who could always do
what I couldn’t do —
how are ya up there?)
So I’ve been telling my friends
about a pink-skinned, pink-haired girl
who saved the lives of others
while a coward watched
loathingly.
(Bakugo shouted that word
as I was writing this. I don’t know
what it really means.)
Whose Bakugo, you ask?
He’s my best bro!
But I don’t think you would’ve
liked him at first,
to be honest —
he’s loud, aggressive
and pretty arrogant.
Yet I know you would’ve
ended being bros with him, too.
Hey Mina,
there’s something I want to
say to you.
I’m sorry for avoiding it —
avoiding you —
all these years. I just didn’t
know what to say.
But now, I do.
Dear Mina,
I’m sorry for being a coward.
I’m sorry for holding you to a pedestal,
thinking you had a godly amount of power.
I’m sorry for trembling that day,
and ignoring the pleading look
in your eyes.
I’m sorry for being weak,
acting meek.
I’m sorry for not
being a man.
I’m sorry for letting you get crushed
that day.
I didn’t have the guts
to admit this until now,
but I wanted
to be you.
Because in my eyes, you were
what Red Riot would’ve
wanted me to be.
I’m sorry for letting you die, Mina.
Do you forgive me? Do you
hate me? I’d hate me, too.
I’m not even lying.
I’m sorry for everything I didn’t do.
I’m sorry for not even having the guts
to move forward.
So to start moving forward, I’m going
to tell all my friends about you.
I know they would love you.
And I think you would’ve sat
next to the yellow-haired dude
who can zap people with his fingers.
You would’ve loved him.
You would’ve loved us.
You would’ve loved me.
And I never deserved that
type of love.
Please forgive me.
And once again,
I’m sorry.
Sincerely—
No.
Love,
Kirishima Eijiro.
