"Holy Shi-oot."
Bandit couldnt believe the email he just recieved. A new discovery and examination. With him being assigned to it. Exciting stuff as always being an archeologist but what was interesting was where he was being sent to. Normally he's used to going on excavation sites and at times presentations at locations mostly in Australia and Europe. But this time it seems hes heading to the states.
"Zoo-to-pia?! Never heard of that place."
Bandit did a quick search of the location.
"A utopia for all animals to come together in harmony. Huh. Pfff Sounds like a fairytale." He rolled his eyes in disbalief. Afterall it did sound too good to be true! "Well if its where i gotta be its where I gotta be." He shrugged. His focus was then shifted when he heard to young voices shout.
"Dad!"
Bluey and Bingo rushed in to his study happy as they could be. both were beaming with energy and joy.
"We got a new game we wanted to play and-"
"Gonna have to stop you right there girls." They paused at the sudden hit of disappointment. "Dad's got to start packing i was called in. Im going to the states!"
"Woah!" Suddenly the girls were in awe at the reveal. Bingo and blueys tails wagged in excitement.
"I wish we could go…" bluey slouched slightly in sadness.
Bandit paused for a moment before placing a paw on blueys head. He felt bad seeing her sad but then an idea sprung to life. With a sincere smile he spoke.
"Im going to a place called zootopia. So how about this. Ill check out the place outside work. If its interesting this summer we can all go there for vacation."
"For real life?!"
"For real life. Now I gotta pack and tell the news to mum."
Bluey smiled as she felt listened to. A small wag visible. With a sense of satisfaction Bluey and Bingo ran off while bandit went to pack.
Alone in the bed room he was getting his luggage ready. Some ties pants shirts and every other professional looking outfit he usually took with him. He then grabbed some more casual attire. After all he should be comfortable right? His focus was then pulled when a quite familiar and lovely voice spoke out.
"Well, how long were you going to wait to tell me?" Chilli was leaning on the doorway smiling.
"Oh I was just going to run off with this other woman I've been secretly with to live out my days as a bachelor in the states."
Chilli smiled with that response. She started to walk up to him.
"And leave me with the kids? Nice try bandit heeler." She had a bit of sass in her voice answering him. She got to him and gently kissed his cheek before sitting on the bed.
"So the states huh?" She smiled at her husband.
"Yeah I'm going to some place called Zootopia. It's the first time I've ever heard of it."
"Really?! What's the place like?"
"From what I've seen? A fairytale. Union for all animals to come together?! Sounds like a load of crap to me." He rolled his eyes not believing any of it. "I think it will be a high tourist spot at best."
"And if its more?"
"Then it will be our next vacation for the summer."
Chilli leaned forward towards bandit with a smile and bedroom eyes. "And Why's that?!" She asked eagerly.
"Hmmm well Bluey got sad to hear me leaving so I had the idea. If its good we can all go for a vaca. Plus it would be good culture for the kids to visit the states. Granted i personally dont agree with everything that happens over there."
"Certainly."
"Its still a good experience to visit."
Suddenly she sat up as a question came to mind. "Now wait, why are you needed?!"
"From the email they didnt say much. Something about a new discovery they want my expertise to look in to then present my findings. I'll learn more on site."
Chilli sighed as she stood up. Walking up to him she fixed some of the fur on his shoulders.
"I won't lie, I sometimes wish they didn't have to turn to you for these things."
"But they do because I'm good at what I do."
"Just another thing to love about you. Makes it kinda difficult with the whole sharing you idea."
"Sharing me ide-?! oooohhhhh right." Suddenly bandit felt self conscious and embarrassed. "Well that's still new and a surprise to hear you suggest it."
"Well you know after that rumor I heard between joshua and francis possibly being a thing despite having wives it got me thinking of sharing you. Now like ive said not full poly relationship but us tipping our toes in being with another couple would be good fun." She then put a snarky smile as she placed her paws on his shoulders. "Plus you my friend have some bi urges to work through."
"Oh ha ha. That 1 time I mistook that constructor for you and you're still on me about it."
"A wife has to have her fun too you know." Chilli winked at him playfully. Bandit couldnt help but shake his head with a sombre smile.
"Alright well im almost ready to go. How about getting the kids in the car so we can go to the airport."
"Ok. Don't take too long."
They kissed and he continued packing. He knew to make sure to bring his tablet and laptop. Not only for what ever work he will most certainly have to do but also for him to faceytime with his family while hes gone. Generally these types of trips means he will be gone for a month or 2 which is always difficult for the blue heeler. Despite how infrequent it happens it still saddens him to be so far away from those he loves. But he was going to make the best of this trip. With his Bags packed and ready to go Bandit went down stairs and out to the car. Everyone was there waiting for him. It didnt take long for them to reach the air port. He got out with everyone else and got his luggage. He bent down to hug Bluey and Bingo who both hugged him tightly.
"I promise once I reach the hotel I'll call you on faceytime."
The girls nodded in agreement. He then stood back up. Chilli went up and gave him a smoochy kiss which made bluey and bingo gag. He couldnt help but chuckle.
"You stay safe out there ok?"
"Of course."
He waved good bye as he walked in to the terminal. He wandered for a bit seeing as his flight was a bit away. Grabbing a coffee he sat by the terminal.
"I guess I could look into the place a bit more. See what i can find out."
He took out his phone and started searching info on Zootopia. He found interesting articles that he was sure of.
"Nighthowler? Whats that?... A plant that is a deterrent for insects. Primarily used for gardens and farms. When substance enters the body the victim is put into a dangerous state where only basic instinctual functions are active causing the victim to lash out or go savage. Biggest crime plot in Zootopia history stopped involving nighthowler… wow. That is crazy. Happy to hear that was dealt with. But still insane to think. Then again it is the state's… maybe i should-"
Flight 72 to Zootopia now allowing boarding group A
Before he could finish his train of thought his flight was ready and quickly he went. He knew this would be a long flight so he ready his headphones and a neck pillow and prepared to sleep the flight. It took around 8 hours to travel from australia to Zootopia. Bandit woke just in time and was able to leave relatively quickly. What he saw he was certainly not expecting.
"Woah!"
Animals of all different species and sizes all moving traveling doing something in unison. Bandit saw animals as large as giraffes and as small as mice all doing there own thing.
On one of the many large screens was a woman gazelle.
I'm Gazelle. Welcome to Zootopia.
"Well I'll be. Maybe its more than just a fairy tale. Oh right my cab. Let's see here."
Bandit exited the terminal and saw a wolf with a sign. His name was written on it. So bandit walked up to the wolf. In honesty it was intimidating seeing as the wolf was bigger than him by a considerable degree.
"Uhh excuse me mate. I'm Bandit heeler. The one on the sign?"
"Yes, welcome. I'll be taking you to your hotel."
The wolf opened the door for him. With a nervous smile bandit entered. The wolf quickly going in to the driver seat. In moments they were off to there destination. The trip was exhilarating. Everything was so bright and different. The city breathing with life. It was like the place was never at rest. Back in brisebane it was simpler quieter. Even when entering the city there it was never this busy. But here the streets were always crowded. Everything had visual volume to it and over all it was just so different. Bandit was in awe to it all till something cut through his focus.
"Mr. Heeler?" The wolf gently said, grabbing bandits attention.
"Oh uhm yes?"
"I asked, is this your first time here in the city?"
"Yeah actually. Never even heard of zootopia prior to yesterday."
"Well, allow me to give you a warm welcome. You'll find that Zootopia has much to offer. Her beauty knows no limits."
"Thank you. Much appreciate that."
As they drove he just watched as the city moved by him. He saw how diverse everything was but how well in unison it was too. From the smallest of pipes for rodents to travel to stands and stores large enough for giraffes. He couldn't believe what he was seeing. All of it was so exhilarating to him. He can only imagine how bluey and bingo would be like seeing all of this. It was a true spectacle. Even how tall the buildings were was amazing.
After about a half hour drive they reached this rather good looking hotel. Bandit thanked the wolf before leaving in to the hotel. It was quick to register. He went up to his room and what he saw was certainly unexpected.
"Holy Molly. This place is amazing!"
There was a full kitchen neatly presentable. A living room area with a flat screen. A rather impressive bathroom with a hot tub styled bathtub. All with tropical essence. The bedroom had a queens size bed as well as a balcony looking out to the city. He was on the 13th floor of a 20 storied building. The sight was just mind boggling. He whistled as he wandered. If it wasn't for the fact this was a hotel one would think it was an apartment.
"Well they pulled out the big guns to assign me here. Must be trying to impress me. I can certainly say its working. wait what's this?"
He noticed by the bed at the night stand was a gift basket. It had fruits and a bottle of Champaign. There was a small note on the side.
"To Mr. Heeler. Welcome to Zootopia. We look forward to working with you on this new discovery. Let this gift basket be a token of our gratitude and a warm invitation to Zootopia and her people. Best regards." He flipped the card on the back showing the WiFi info for the hotel as well as a time and address. "Oh. I got the whole day for myself?!"
He realized that he didn't need to go anywhere till tomorrow. Bandit smiled. He decided hes going to enjoy the day. But first things first. He needed to uphold the promise he made to his girls. Quickly he signed in to the WiFi on his laptop and prepped it for faceytime. With a quick text to chilli it only took them 5 minutes to get on call.
"Dad!"
"Hello girls. I just arrived." He smiled and waved at them.
He saw from the background that it was getting late for them. They were in bluey and bingos room in bed. The night moon light shining with the lamp by the bed side.
"Woah is that where your staying?! It looks so cool!" Bluey was trying to see all she could of the background and was easily impressed.
"Dad what's it like over there?" Bingo asked.
"Oh it's crazy! I saw giraffes and elephants walking with mice and hamsters and everything thing else in between big and small. The city is certainly something in fact hold on let me see if i can show you."
Bandit got out of frame as he picked up the laptop. Carefully carrying it to the balcony he presented the view to them. An ocean of skyscrapers that stretched out the horizon. You can see all the intertwined machinations for different animals method for transportation. There was a large park filled with trees and grass and a large lake. The sun shined bright adding this radiance to it all. Bluey and Bingo were in awe seeing it.
“I wanna go there for sure now!” Bluey announced.
Bandit chuckled as he walked back to bed. Placing the laptop down he went back into frame.
“Well dont worry. I think it would be well worth the trip to come here for a vacation. Ive yet to explore though. Ill be sure to jot down any places of interest for us.”
“Hooray!”
Bandit smiled at her cheer.
“Alright girls. Its time for bed.” Chilli said as she took the tablet.
“Awww!” the girls said in unison.
“Dont worry girls. We can talk again later. You two sleep tight ok?”
“Ok dad!”
Chilli walked to their bedroom and set up the tablet so she and him can chat.
“So bandit, how is it over there. Was there any problems getting to the hotel?”
“None whats so ever. I was chauffeured by a wolf to the hotel. Though this place feels more like a mini condo than a hotel.”
“I can tell. Is that a champagne bottle i see behind you?”
Bandit looked back and grabbed the gift basket.
“Yeah actually. Courtesy of the people working here. They really are pulling all the tricks to feel welcomed. But seriously though. This place is crazy. The billboards the crowds the lights and sounds. Compared to Brisebane its just a little town. Not even the city over there can compete to here and ive yet to look around. Im sure i can find plenty of interesting stuff!”
“As long as youre safe about your exploration. Last i need is you getting lost.”
“Yeah i know babe. Im not gonna be able to see everything this place has to offer. But Im pretty sure i can see a lot.”
“Well thats nice. Now when are you doing what you need to do there?”
“From the card it says tomorrow. So i have a whole day to do as i like.”
“Just dont have too much fun out there.”
Bandit chuckled as he smiled. "Don't worry babe. I'll be ok."
"Ok… I love you and miss you."
"I miss and love you too. But don't worry you can see me in your dreams in the mean time."
Chilli chuckled, rolling her eyes playfully. With a final wave goodbye they hung up the faceytime. Bandit sighed slightly as now he has a whole day he needs to burn. So he decided to wonder. He first made sure to have the address to the hotel saved on his phone. This way he will always know how to get back. Second he made sure of cash incase he got hungry. And lastly he searched based on his location some points of interest. Without much delay he was off to wonder.
Walking around this restless city was somewhat intimidating. Be it the crowds of people to the scale of everything it was a lot to take in. Yet the sense of unknown was exciting to the blue heeler. He chose first to go to the park that he saw from the hotel room. There he saw the vast open field of grass. Finding a bench he sat to take in the moment. A pleasant breeze blew by as it gave a natural scent. It was beautiful outside with a just right temperature. Not quite spring but not winter either but that transition period. As he looked around he noticed coyote boys playing football or what Americans call Soccer. He saw a lovely ferret couple with a baby in the stroller walk by. He even saw a tiger father playing frisbee with his child. It made Bandit have a sweet sour feeling. It was nice seeing all these different animals wandering about with no problem. But it did make him miss his family seeing the other families. But that gave him more determination to find things he thought his family would love. So he went back to wandering.
Leaving the park he walked casually on the side walk passing many shops and stores. So many interesting places. One was an ice cream shop that was run by elephants. It was cool to see but he then thought a bit over the idea of eating ice cream that was made with a elephants trunk. This made him shiver so he passed on that idea. As he continued walking he ended up at a crossroad. Seeing as the light was on to walk he tried to cross the street only to stop himself short. A van almost hit him which really shook him for the moment. That shock turned in to anger. He looked to the van and yelled.
"Oi, mate the lights red!"
Slowly the drivers window rolled down. It revealed two large ears. Bandit was confused till they popped their head up. For a moment bandit thought he was talking to a Chihuahua. But in closer inspection he realized it was a fennec fox and clearly a angry one.
"Out the way you fucking tourist."
The foxes surprisingly deep voice caught bandit off guard. He never expected that from someone so small. But that shock was short lived as bandit got more annoyed and upset.
"Learn to drive then!" He shouted.
The fox snickered at the shout.
"Up yours!"
With that the van started up again driving past bandit. Bandit returned the gesture by giving the van the bird. He then sighed in frustration.
"Geez, the nerve of some people…"
Bandit chose to let it go. He didn't want this small incident to get in the way of his exploration. So he kept walking. He mostly wondered. Found a few interesting shops here and there. Eventually he wondered back to the hotel.
After a long day of exploration he was tired. He looked at the champagne and had a thought. So he started up the bathtub and prepared to pamper himself. The tub was set to just the right temperature. He made sure to add bubbles to the bath. He got him self a nice glass and prepped his cloths for when he was done. He undressed and entered the tub sighing in satisfaction.
“Oh yeah i needed this!”
He took a sip of the champagne and hummed as it bubbled in his mouth. The taste sending a shiver down his spine. His tail couldnt help but wag slightly under the water. He had his phone near by so he chose to text chilli.
Babe are you up?
Yeah?
Would you like to faceytime? Just you though. Im in the tub.
Sure!
It took 5 minutes for chilli to hop on.
“Hi babe!”
“Oh youre really having fun over there huh?”
“Of course. I did have a long day you know.” Bandit put a cheeky smile causing chilli to giggle.
“Well if id known you were going to pamper your self like this id have had the kids stay with wendy for a bit and join you.”
“You with a bath and drinks?! I dont think that would have ended well.”
“I have no clue what youre on about bandit.”
“You cant handle your alcohol.”
“Can to.”
“Babe i still remember new years…”
“I was ok at new years!” She counted.
Bandits eyes half closed as he put a coy face of disbelief to her claim.
“Chilli come on you, wait are the kids near by?”
“No.”
“Ok, you said youd ride my cock to high heaven to stripe after a few glasses of wine…”
Chilli blushed madly as she darted her eyes away in embarrassment.
“Well i did didnt i?” She said in a low tone.
He blushed in return as his eyes went wide. He sat up more.
“Thats not the point!” He protested.
“Well still i think it would have been romantic to both be soaking in the tub. Far but together.”
He sighed as he sunk back in to the tub.
“Well yeah…”
“So tell me how is it over there!”
Bandit smiled at her enthusiasm and began unveiling a retelling of his day. She listened eagerly to every detail. She laughed at the finnec fox encounter and was entranced at all the details he gave of the place. It truely was something magical with how intertwined the society is for so many species.
“It has been so amazing to be out here. Id love for the kids to see it and thats only 1 section compared to the whole city!”
“Im glad youre having fun and-”
“MUUUUM!” Bluey was heard yelling for chilli.
“Oop. ive gotta go. Ill let the kids know you said hi. I love you babe.”
“Love you too!”
They hung up and bandit sighed. He was happy to have a moment with chilli but he really did miss them. It sucked that he was going to be away from them for the next month or two but at least he still could contact them. After a bit more time he got out of the tub and went to dress him self. He took the time to groom himself thoroughly. After all he needed to be prepared for tomorrow. With his pajamas on he went to bed.
“See you in my dreams chilli…” he whispered to himself before going to sleep.
His alarm went off waking him. It was 6AM. He made sure to give himself extra time to prep. With a stretch and a yawn he went to work. First brushing his teeth, then combing his fur making sure there was no knots. A cologne for good measure. Then a nice red shirt with a pair of brown pants. Ready for the day he grabbed his phone and bag with everything he needed and was off to this meeting.
As bandit traveled he couldn't help but be both nervous and excited. After all what would be so great that they would need him to investigate. He specialized in dog bone archeology so what could it be? He hadn't a clue. He reached the site without any problems. A large building that was intimidating at first. As he entered he got a name tag for himself. Suddenly someone was calling out to him.
"Excuse me are you Mr. Bandit?"
He turned to find him self to be in front of a coyote in a lab coat. He was wagging his tail looking at him.
"Yeah mate?"
Suddenly the boy got embarrassed blushing as he collected himself.
"Oh I'm sorry. The names Brett. I've studied your findings for quite some time now. I'm actually a fan. I'll be working with you. It's an honor to actually meet you!"
The boy nervously presented his paw. Bandit smiled as he firmly grabbed and shook his paw.
"Well I've never had a fan before but no need to be so formal. It's a pleasure to be working with you."
After they shook bandit looked around curiously.
"So what exactly have you guys brought me here for?"
"Oh right duh. Please come with me!"
Brett started to move and bandit followed closely behind. As he walked he passed different animals all studying and specializing on different species it was thrilling to see like minded individuals.
"So we called you in because we may have found one of the biggest discoveries for canines history. Considering you are one of the top in your field for dog archeology we wanted your specialties to confirm our findings. This was done at an excavation outside the city. Once we were able to get these fossils we had different canine specialists examine it. If what we think we found is true then we would have a common ancestor for most canine animals like dogs foxes wolves coyotes etc."
"Woah woah slow down mate. What your saying has only been a theory. If i recall correctly the common ancestor would be dire wolves if what your on about is correct."
"Exactly! Mr. Heeler allow me the pleasure to introduce you to the first dire wolf fossil!"
As they entered the room bandit was face to face to a almost complete fossilization of a dire wolf. His eyes went wide as he dropped his bag. Slowly walking up to the casing. He examined it slowly through the glass.
"Bloody hell mate. You've actually found one…"
Bandit was breathless at the sight. He couldnt believe it. Something he and many others theorized is now a reality. Brett had a smile ear to ear as his tail wagged.
"I-ill need some time to examine this to make sure but. This sure looks like what we've theorized."
"Why of course. I'll be assisting you in this process of course and you Mr. Heeler will be presenting the findings."
"What?!"
He paused looking up to Brett in surprise.
"Yes because of the importance of this finding you will be presenting in front of many people as this is a defining moment in canine history. Many scientists and world leaders across the globe will be present for this meeting."
"Christ! Way to drop a bomb shell on a guy. H-how long till this meeting?"
"About a week sir…" Brett was nervous now as he spoke.
Bandit sighed as he walked up to Brett.
"Alright… alright we can work with a week. But I hope you're ready to work your tail off!"
"Yes of course sir!"
"Good."
The two began there work. Piece by piece they examined and cross examined the fossils with other animal fossils confirming or denying there findings. It was certainly hard work but bandit was entranced by it. He could never get tired of this and with such an important discovery on the line it only boosted his determination. At some point during the week brett went and got lunch for the two of them. As he returned bandit was instantly captivated by the alluring scent.
"Hey brett what you got there?"
"Oh i got us some pie for lunch. Its from this bakery i know that's been growing recently. He does amazing stuff."
"Really? Let me see."
Bandit took a slice of the blue berry pie. The crust was a gold brown and the bluey berry was a juicy purple. He took a bite and instantly was blasted in wonderful flavor. He hummed in satisfaction as his taste buds were taken to a trip of sweetness.
"Whats this guys shop called mate?"
"Uhm i believe it's called Gideons Goods Bakery sir. I can give you the address if youd like."
"Certainly!"
Brett passed a card with the address as the two enjoyed there lunch. As they continued to work through the week they grew more comfortable with each other which caused bandit to bring up a certain topic.
"Hey mate ive been meaning to ask something."
"Yes?"
"Do you know anything about this story i read, it was something about nighthowler."
"Oh that… that is a major moment that happened relatively recently. See the mayors assistant was trying to cause a civil war between predators and prey by drugging predators with nighthowler. It forces the victim to lose higher function of the brain and go back to basic instincts. In other words theyd become savage. Thankfully that case was solved."
"By whom?" Bandit asked.
"By the cities first rabbit officer. I cant remember theyre name though. I generally dont keep up with that type of stuff anyway."
"But with something so severe you sure everythings ok?"
"Theres nothing to worry about Mr. Heeler."
Brett gave a reassuring smile to bandit who nodded and kept working. They spent the week day in and day out in the office studying recording theorizing till finally the day of the presentation arrived.
Bandit was entirely nervous. Normally he could handle doing presentations. After all hes done many before. But this was different it felt different. He was representing a species. So the weight of that laid heavy on his shoulders.
"Ok Mr. Heeler its almost time!"
"Thank you Brett."
Bandit took a deep breath and walked on stage.
It was certainly bright. It took a moment for his eyes to adjust. There was camera flashes everywhere. He saw the sea pf animals all focused on him. All different species of different sizes and countries. All there for him. He walked up to the podium and took a moment to collect.
"Hello welcome everyone. It brings me great pleasure and honor to have been selected to study what maybe one of the greatest discoveries for canine history. Thanks to my colleague Brett we would like to formally announce the actually discovery of the dire wolf!"
The curtains opened revealing the fossilized skeleton. The crowd clapped in awe at the sight.
"This animal marks the first common ancestor for all canines allowing for a starting point before branching off in evolution and becoming what we are today. I must say that these fossils are of invaluable importance and that it is truly amazing to be alive to see this. With this fossil we can recontextualize our understanding of our ancestors. Every dog wolves fox coyote and anything else in between started from here."
The crowd whispered over what he said. Bandit kept a nervous smile. The presentation took a total of 40 minutes including answering questions. It was nerve wracking for him to do this but he powered through. With a final good bye he quickly walked off stage. Bandit kept his cool as he rushed through the halls. Once he was sure he was alone he let go of a breath he didnt realize he was holding.
"Oh geez. That was intense. Ive never been so stressed since blueys birth… i-i need the thing, my thing!"
He searched around in his pockets in desperation till he finally found what he was looking for.
"Ahh there you are!"
He took out a fake bone chewable. The whole presentation was not only intense due to everyone there but he was fighting his basic instinct to bite and chew on the bones. Now at a moment of solitude he indulged himself by aggressively eating the chewable.
"Oh man this feels so good!"
"Mr. Heeler?"
Bandit froze as his hair spiked. He slowly turned around to see Brett standing there. He was caught being less than civilized.
"Ahem, im sorry you had to see that. uhm what can I do for you mate?"
"Its fine I understand. I'm just here to inform you that we are to take the fossils back to there casings."
"Oh okay… yeah lets go then."
Bandit smiled as he followed Brett to behind the stage. They took each fossil and put it in the cart taking it back to the display rooms. One by one Bandit and Brett put the fossils back in the display case. Everything was going fine the hard part was over. At least thats what bandit thought.
Suddenly he felt something he never felt before. Bandit froze instantly. Never in his life had he felt this yet he knew exactly what it was.
Cold. Metallic. Circular.
Pressed on the back of his head was the end barrel of a gun.
Slowly he raised his paws. sweat started to coat his fur. All he thought of was of Chilli, Bluey and Bingo. He took a slow breath to calm him self as best he could. Then spoke clearly.
"What do you want?"
The robber leaned forward. It was now that bandit saw his covered face and body. he could tell it was a feline but nothing more yet.
"We're here to nab these fossils. You're the guy who presented them, right? Mr. Heeler if I recall. Well if they're as valuable as you said theyll make a fortune in the black market"
Bandit kept his cool. Making sure to memorize details.
"I don't know how valuable they'll be but if you want them take em mate"
"Hmm wise choice."
The feline reached over to grab the fossil. Bandit saw there paw and knew it was a panther.
"Alright boys let's go!"
They turned and ran. Bandit had moments to turn around and look. He saw the feline and 2 others a weasel and what looked to be sheep but by then they were too far gone. He fell to his knees as his nerves were shot from the situation.
"Christ only in America this would happen..."
Bandit looked around and saw Brett laying on the ground. Bandit slowly went up to him. Thankfully he wasnt injured but he was unconcious. Bandit was shaking with uncertainty. He then went and pulled out his phone instantly calling the authorities. It took a few minutes for them to arrive. There was ambulance and police surrounding the grounds. Brett was taken in a stretcher while bandit was questioned.
"Hello my name is officer Fangmyer this is officer Wolford we just would like to ask you a few questions."
Bandit nodded and began retelling what happened. He tried to be as detailed as possible. After what felt like an eternity he was finally let go. So he wondered back to the hotel. Finally having a moment of peace he fell to his knees in shock as tears poured out of him. In desperation he texted Chilli.
Chilli please I need to see you. Faceytime me as soon as you get this!
It took a few moments but then his phone rang. Chilli was calling.
"Bandit, it's the middle of the night and- wait what happen! What's going on?!"
Chilli instantly woke up when she saw his face. It was covered in tears and fear but a sense of relief to see her.
"Chilli. I want you to know how much I love you and the kids and our life and-"
"Bandit slow down. Take a deep breath and tell me what happened?"
He did as he was told taking in a breath. He then spoke more clearly.
"We were robbed and I was held at gun point. I was terrified and all I could think about was not being able to ever see you, bluey, or bingo again."
"Bandit… how much longer do you have to stay there?"
"I did what I was asked to do. I can stay for a bit longer but I'm going to take the first flight home tomorrow."
"Good! Very good. I'm so sorry. Maybe we shouldn't go there for vaca-"
"No!"
Chilli was shocked from the cut off.
"I'm sorry. It's just this place I want you all to see it it's been wonderful. I just. I wasn't prepared for this but I don't want one bad moment ruin what could be a life time of memories we can share."
Chilli sighed as she looked away unsure. But she trusted him so she gave in.
"Ok. But we're going to be prepared when we go understood."
"Yes of course."
"Bandit get some sleep hun. You'll be home soon…"
"I love you chilli."
"I love you too…"
As they hung up bandit was more calmer than before. He did what she suggested and chose to sleep. That morning he was on the first flight to brisebane. As he was in the lobby waiting he noticed the news. The apparent burglars were captured and the fossils returned as they were prepped to be put in a Museum. Bandit smiled in content at that news.
His flight went smoothly and before long he was home. The kids were at stripes so Chilli and Bandit had the home for them selves. As soon as he could he took chilli in to a big desperate hug. It took the wind out of her but she hugged back.
"I was so scared I'd never see you again."
"Its ok bandi. Youre home now."
They spent the day just in each others company enjoying just being together.
That summer they went back to the great city of Zootopia now with better knowledge on the laws and regulations of the city and resources to reach out to if an emergency arises. They had a hotel that was more like an apartment that was fairly affordable. Bandit decided to take the kids with him as they went for lunch. He remembered the pie he had last time he was in zootopia and so with the card that brett gave him he bluey and bingo went to pay this bakery a visit. As they entered bandit spoke to bluey and bingo.
"Now remember were here to get us a nice lunch nothing too sweet. Bingo, bluey you two decide what we'll get."
Yes dad!"
The two dogs rushed up to the counter browsing as bandit went up to the cashier.
"Good day mate!" He said to the fox.
"Howdy. Welcome to Gideon Goods Bakery. Names Gideon how can I help?"
Bandit smiled at the sight of this Gideon. So welcoming. He was grateful to have been told of this place and something told him that this Gideon was going to be a good fellow.
