"Hey, it's... been a while, hasn't it?"
"Yeah, it has..."
Jay and Jungwon stared at each other for a moment, both finding it hard to believe the other was actually there. Maybe this was some type of weird fever dream or something of the sort.
Jay clears his throat uncomfortably and gestures a hand to the empty seat in front of him. "Would you like to join me?"
Jungwon hesitates for a bit.
He really needs to get to work, avoid reaching his deadline and maybe have a meltdown because of this morning's occurrences. But instead, he finds himself sliding into the wooden chair and nervously wraps his fingers around his warm cup of iced americano. Jay watches him with a small smile until he's fully seated.
"So, how's life going?" He stutters out.
They lock eyes for a moment and Jungwon bursts out laughing.
Clear confusion crosses Jay's features. "What?"
Jungwon clears his throat as an attempt to stop laughing but this doesn't work. "I-I'm so sorry. It's just that-" he can't help but let out a chuckle. "I'm surprised you're still as awkward as ever." He laughs.
Jay snorts at this. "Sorry. I don't think it's something I'm capable of changing. Can you blame me though?" He continues to watch the younger with a smile. "We haven't seen each other in years."
Jungwon slowly sobers and twists his lips to the side. "Yeah, I know."
More silence.
Jay presses his lips together and Jungwon does the same.
The older between the two looks out the window, people wandering up and down the bustling streets, completely oblivious to the awkward tension between the two males in the coffee shop in the busy centre of Seoul. Jay feels the coffee in his hands begin to cool and mentally questions himself if it would be okay to say what he wants to say. So instead of keeping quiet and regretting not having said this later on, he tells himself to grow a pair and-
"I missed you."
Both their breaths catch when they say this at the same time.
"Um..." Jungwon clears his throat, a light dust of pink on his cheeks. He mentally prays that Jay will excuse it as a result of the chilly weather. "I uh... missed you too."
"Me too."
"When was the last time you saw the others?" Jungwon changes the subject quickly.
"Yesterday, actually." Jay says with a lopsided smile. "Sunghoon, Sunoo and Ni-ki had gone out for dinner and we met when they were about to leave. They looked... happy."
"Aren't you happy?"
Jay's lips part to answer but finds himself hesitating. "Yeah,"
Am I happy?
"Of course, I'm happy." He finishes. "You?"
"Not really."
Jay pauses mid-sip. He looks up.
"I'm not happy." Jungwon says easily, honestly. "I miss you guys. I missed you. I missed us."
Jay frowns. "I miss us too."
