Point-Blank

Summary:

There is no doubt that Carlton Lassiter is the strongest person Juliet O'Hara knows. But even the strongest people can't control a gun. A series of 100 word scenes from Juliet's perspective after Carlton is shot. Found family and the power of partnership prevail.

Chapter 1: The Call

Juliet picks up on the third ring. “Chief?”

“Juliet...” her tone is grave. The chief never uses first names.

Somehow, Juliet just knows. “Shawn or Carlton?”

Juliet can hear the chief's breath catch. “Carlton. Juliet, he was shot point-blank. With two guns. They’re taking him for surgery now, but Juliet... it doesn’t look good.”

Within seconds, Juliet is drowning. Nothing else in the world matters. Carlton Lassiter, possibly the strongest person she has ever met, had been shot. He was... no. She wouldn’t say that word. He couldn’t leave her.

“I’m on my way,” Juliet said. She didn’t look back.
