“oh, yunjin, you’re here?” kazuha perked up at the sight of yunjin entering through the door, the older girl flashed a warm smile and stepped foot into the room. kazuha had been studying in one of the private rooms for the past few hours, her eyes glued to her laptop and her hand on her notebook- she was studying as per usual.
yunjin made sure the younger girl’s eyes didn’t stay on her for too long. she silently locked the door, making sure it didn’t make a single sound.
“here, i brought you something to drink.” yunjin placed the paper cup down, kazuha glimpsed up at her with a smile before peering over to look at the paper from the teabag. her favorite one, green tea. “thanks.” her hand diligently moving as she wrote on her notebook, a small crinkle on the side from her wrist.
yunjin sat herself down on the seat next to kazuha, skimming over the latter’s notes. “ooh..physics.” she nodded slowly as she took in every sentence and note that was on the paper. “i already mastered that class.” she sat back with a smug look on her face, kazuha furrowed her eyebrows in a playful manner before resuming her studying.
silence struck in the air after that. so quiet that she could hear her own heartbeat and the soft breathing of kazuha, who was still intensely staring at her screen. “are all of your friends out? i’d figure you’d be out with them than be in here.” yunjin rested her chin between her knuckles comfortably, kazuha was unaware of the latter’s watchful eyes that were watching her every move. “mm.. i’d rather be studying.” she replied, scribbling down the paper.
“you really are a productive person..” she was amazed, yunjin was quite the slacker when it came to studying. less than an hour in and she’s probably staring out the window when she had 4 assignments due in the next hour. “i forgot you’re a procrastinator.” kazuha let out a snicker after noticing yunjin’s jaw drop. “i mean! it’s after i finish everything..” she insisted.
kazuha hadn’t properly looked up in yunjin’s direction since the older one had walked in. “am i bothering you?” kazuha thought for a moment before shaking her head. “you were about to nod,” a hand covering her mouth, she stifled a laugh. “i think you were about to nod, but realized you shouldn’t.” yunjin had a smirk dancing in her lips, seeing kazuha panic at her response. “i’m just teasing you.” she flicked kazuha’s forehead, causing her to wince.

“do you like anyone?”
kazuha’s breath hitched, the sudden question had her stopping her writing to process how to respond. she needed to collect her thoughts before telling yunjin the truth.
“if you answer my question, then i’ll answer yours- do you like anyone too?” yunjin had a confused expression on her face, but either way she gave in. “i do.” she smiles at the thought.
kazuha swore she heard a crack form in her heart.
“and you?” yunjin’s smile dropped this time, she had to mentally prepare herself. “..i like someone as well.” kazuha hesitated, unable to notice yunjin visibly winced at her response as if she just got punched in the gut. the air in the room grew awkward after that, both being unaware that their crushes were actually each other.

after long periods of quietude, yunjin peered up at kazuha, who seemed to be deep in thought. “how is your crush like..?” she gulped, feeling it tighten as she did. god, she wanted the ground to open and swallow her entirely. “she’s…” kazuha flashbacked to the moment her and yunjin snuck into campus to steal the hamster that lived in the science department. she vividly remembered seeing the old security guard speed-walk towards them, he was quite slow, but too fast for them to stay in the same spot any longer.
kazuha saw the way yunjin struggled to contain her giggling after escaping from the grasp of the old security guard. she doubled over in laughter, gripping onto kazuha for dear life; and kazuha couldn’t help but laugh as well, the look on his face once he saw the two young adults carrying the glass cage with the hamster inside was priceless- it took a while for the two to calm down without bursting out in laughter again.
“..someone who i always find myself laughing with.” kazuha said with a smile. yunjin bit her tongue, watching the latter attempt to keep a straight face but to no avail as her grin would just grow wider and wider each time. after a bit, kazuha dreaded the next words to escape her mouth, nonetheless, she had to ask. “and..what about the person you like..? how are they like?..” it was a struggle for her to breath properly, it was killing her by the second knowing yunjin had another person occupying her mind.
“she’s someone i fell in love with since we first met.” yunjin recollected the moment she first met kazuha like it was just yesterday. with her long brown locks brushing past her shoulders as she introduced herself to yunjin.
yunjin eyed the younger girl, the way the corners of her lips curved into a heart melting smile that stuck in her mind for months. kazuha sheepishly bowed towards yunjin, keeping her straight posture and her hands remaining on her sides. by then, the older one had grown fond of kazuha, small conversations that later blossomed into a close friendship as time passed.
kazuha felt her stomach turn, crushing on someone who liked someone else was the worst feeling in the world. another pregnant pause fell in between the two, both of them were too occupied in their own feelings to question the silence. yunjin staring at the ground, the clicking of the clock was the only thing keeping her from going insane.

“kazuha.”
kazuha took a moment to glimpse up at yunjin, who was staring at her intensely, searching for her eyes. kazuha gulped, she felt small under her strong gaze. her voice was low and quiet, the air was tense, with yunjin leaning closer towards her. “look at me.” she breathed, locking her fingers under kazuha’s chin, forcing her to look up at her.
the younger girl was dumbfounded, kazuha’s eyes widened and her hands balled into fists. what was going on? why was yunjin acting like this? and, most importantly, why did she have an urge to move forward and kiss yunjin? her mind was asking herself all of these questions and yet she didn’t notice yunjin staring at her lips.
in the same breath, yunjin pressed her soft lips against kazuha’s for a quick kiss.
she pulled back to study kazuha’s reaction, after the kiss, she’d figured kazuha would recoil in disgust, or push her away. but yunjin saw the exact opposite- and the silence after made her grow anxious. she had to say something to ease her nerves. “why aren’t you avoiding me?” -was all yunjin could say before kazuha let out a scoff as she pulled the latter by the arm for another kiss, sighing at the sensation of her lips on hers.
they just couldn’t get enough of each other.
yunjin snaked her hand around kazuha’s waist to reel her in even closer, in response, the latter let out a small gasp. what felt like hours were actually minutes once they finally pulled away from each other, out of breath, and fell into a spiral of love. kazuha’s lips had such a pretty pink color- yunjin was fighting for her life not to lock her lips with kazuha’s once again.
“i like you.” the older girl sighed out, feeling her heart racing, as if it were to burst out of her chest. kazuha could do nothing but smile, and pressed a kiss on yunjin’s lips. “there’s my response.” she snickered, her eyes forming into crescents as her laughter evolved into fits of giggles.
