   Summary

   Ed woke in the grey light as usual. He knew exactly where he was and who he was with, because he’d spent hours lying awake mentally replaying every word, every touch, every look. The only surprise was that he’d slept at all.

   Usually he’d roll out of bed at this time, have a piss and find his jacket, and get on with the day. But this morning, looking at Stede’s outline in the faint light, he reckoned he might stay in bed a while.
