Summary
Sometimes dreams don't pan out the way you expect it. Sometimes it's difficult to see the things you need because of how stuck you are on the things you're chasing.

Eddie shifts in his seat and gives the teenagers in the back of the vehicle a loving grin. Eventually he returns his attention back to him.
A moment of silence passes, the grin is still there.
“Soooo… on a scale from 'getting Vecna’d' to your 'six little Harringtons' dreams…” Steve already feels his stomach drop. “How does this hold up?”
“Please don’t…”
“I mean, I am no Nancy Wheeler, but it will have to d-”
“No, you’re not.” Too sudden. Too sharp. His jaw clenches. There is silence. “And I don’t want you to be.” He refuses to look away from the road. Not yet. He needs to make himself clear.
To Eddie it’s just a joke. One of those ‘I’m not ever going to let you forget that embarrassing thing you did’ moments. It is, until it isn’t. Steve doesn’t work the way Eddie does. No double meanings; no brushing emotions behind jokes. Not when those emotions matter. His heart sinks every time Eddie does it, but he won't stop reminding Eddie that what he sees is what he gets and he shouldn’t ask for less.
