Summary
The truth of the matter is, that Peter does not have the best track record when it comes to parental units.
After his parents die, he spirals headfirst into separation anxiety. He doesn’t know exactly what that is, but he knows he can’t let Ben or May leave his site for any reason.
And then things get better. Therapy helps, and so does meeting Ned. He goes to school, they go back to work and while the panic never truly goes away, it lessens just enough. Things become tolerable again, even with the fear of losing them sitting inches below his skin.
He begins to trust the universe will help keep Ben and May safe, and that nothing bad will ever happen again.
Until it does.
