Chapter 1: Twilight

Summary:

Intoduction to Twilight.

Chapter Text

Twilight looked over at his clock, it was already six o clock in the morning. He swore he had Just fallen asleep.

Oh well.

It was time to put on the face of Loid Forger, his identity for this mission.

He got up and looked in the mirror and stretched, looking his own morning body. He was lean but had plenty of muscle, he had slick blonde hair and blue eyes and was very athletic and perceptive, he also outshined everyone around him.

That’s the reason why he was recruited at the age of fourteen to be a Westalis spy. He was recruited by WISE, the Westalis spy network in which he was already climbing the ranks.

He had been given a mission over six moths ago, to infiltrate the prestigious school of Eden Academy and gain insight of an upcoming political figure, Donovan Desmond.
Donovan had made big claims about what was coming for the Nationalist Union Party, as his father was looming closer to death of old age.

WISE needed info on what exactly his goals and ideals were, this being the reason why they needed Twilight, the second-best spy in East Westalis.

He had recently turned sixteen and had already learned to drive pretty much any vehicle, thanks to his handler, Sylvia. His skills as a spy were rapidly increasing, and along with that, his ego… how could it not?

Donovan Desmond was a threat to world peace, WISE wanted him to protect the world from another war, like the one that took is father when he was still a foetus, and then later his mother only a week after his birth.

His only goal in life was to prevent other children suffering like him and he would put his life on the line to make sure of it.
-

He continued to get ready for the day, he watched the beautiful morning dew on his plants slowly evaporate as he had a shower and posed for a bit. He then had some breakfast then got ready for some pre-school study.

Today was history and classical language then it was sports for the rest of the day. He flicked through his textbook, and memorised all the information thanks to his photographic memory.

Eden was a prestigious academy and only valued the brightest and reward them through a system of Stella stars. Receiving eight would lead to the promotion as an imperial scholar in which the committee held meetings and frequent party’s which was the perfect chance to talk with Donovan in a relaxed setting and have a modest conversation, and possibly even bug him.

There was one issue however, Desmond and Loid were arch-rivals and always competed over absolutely everything. Twilight knew he was better of course, but for the sake if the mission had to make it a fair contest, to not make Donovan his arch enemy as well. It was already difficult to even come close to him like this but at an imperial scholar party while a little drunk, it was possible to pry some details out of him. Desmond and Loid were pretty much the only two competent enough students in their class to receive Stella’s, so Loid was completely confident in his efforts so far. He was only three Stella’s away from imperial scholar status. He had a small smile on his face as he reviewed the mission so far, it was going as smooth as he wanted it.
-
“Oi Loid... over here, I gotta tell you something.”

His class mate Franky whispered from a few desks away.

Franky was one of Loid’s close friends, that for once didn’t want to use him for his charm, strength and many other things. It was annoying how everyone thought Loid had a
perfect life.

“Loid over here.”

Franky whispered slightly louder.

“What is it Franky?”

Loid was in no mood for chit chat, and if anything wanted to focus on his history class.

“Lunchtime, meet in the library.”

He whispered once more.

Loid responded with a simple thumbs up.

His classes continued, as usual he performed exceptionally, always eager to ask and answer questions, along with Donovan of course, even the teachers sensed the heat between the two.

Loid had finished his daily report for the morning sessions of classes, noticing something strange; a certain girl had kept Loid in her gaze for most of the classes. Loid was of course used to this, as he was quite the charming figure, yet this stare he had been getting he knew it was something different, but he couldn’t quite tell.

-

“Loid I’m over here...”

Franky whispered, Loid was glad he didn’t shout like last time in the library, he almost got both of them a tonitrus bolt which he was less pleased about.

“What is it you want Franky, if you need help with class, I’ve already given you a foundation level textbook to get you started-”

“No Loid, it’s about Donovan. I overheard some serious stuff. I need your help to understand and explain some stuff.”

Loid and Franky then spent the whole of lunch discussing what Franky had heard. Loid had made a whole list in his mind of possible actions to take in repercussion to Donovan’s soon-to-be actions.

“I also have something else… nothing to with Donovan, well kinda, but it’s s regarding someone’s safety-”

The bell rang. Lunchtime was over.

“Franky, well talk tomorrow, let’s meet at the same place. I can't be late for practice.”

“Gotcha Loid.”
-

Loid was standing on the track; the rain was pounding at his arms and legs. Sports was the only field he was far better at than Desmond.

Today was track training, long distance to be specific. Loid had calculated exactly how to stay ahead the whole time.

He would adjust his breathing. His muscles needed oxygen to function, so he would breathe at the most efficient times to stop lactic acid building up, from anaerobic respiration which caused cramps and tiredness.

And around fourteen minutes later Loid had completed his four-kilometre run while barely sweating. He was four minutes ahead of the person second to him.

After taking a quick water break and some stretching, he turned around.

He saw the same person he was staring at him the whole morning.
