“I can’t believe my little girl is getting married!” Sabine cried as she looked at the gorgeous ring Chat had bought her daughter for the hundredth.

Marinette blushed and wiggled her fingers. “I know! I was so surprised! And this ring is so perfect.”

Sabine grinned. “He knows you well.”

“He does.” The future bride sighed happily. “Just knowing that he went through all the hassle to include both you and papa and then our friends? Ugh, I love him so much.”

Chat Noir had proposed to Marinette just last night in the sweetest way possible. Taking her out by the sea, he’d gathered her friends and family for what she thought was going to be a beach party. Instead, with the help of those family and friends, he’d managed to make a memory walk of every moment they’d ever had together. From their meet cute where she’d literally fallen for him- she’d been caught in an akuma fight and had fallen off a building only to be saved by Chat- to the family picnic where Chat had sneakily told her parents he was going to propose. Marinette had been in tears as she walked through their memories only to find Chat down on one knee at the very end of it.

It had been an enthusiastic yes.

“I know.” A shrill whistle filled the air. “Oh! The tea is ready.”

Sabine stood and retreated to the kitchen for a few minutes before returning with tea. Her smile widened when she realized her daughter was still in a love-struck daydream: hands cupping her cheeks, smile on her face, and eyes unfocused.

Her daughter truly had it bad and she couldn’t be happier!

Chat was an amazing young man. He was brave, strong, patient, and loved their daughter so much. He was everything Marinette had dreamed about when she was a little girl and Sabine was more than thrilled that she would have her happily ever after.

Making their tea to their preferences, Sabine set a cup in front of Marinette before sitting and sipping her own. She had learned that when Marinette went off into dreamland it was better to let her come out of it by herself. She’d always had an overactive imagination and it was best to let it roam free when it chose to.

Sabine was just mixing sugar into her second cup when Marinette blinked and shook herself, finally coming back to their reality.

Seeing her tea cold, she blushed. “Maman. Why didn’t you say anything?”

“You’re so adorable when you daydream. I didn’t want to interrupt it.”

Marinette rolled her eyes and sipped her now warm tea. “But I’m here to spend time with you, not daydream about Chat.”

Sabine shrugged. “It’s not a bad thing to daydream about your future husband, especially when he's as handsome and amazing as yours.”

“He is, isn’t he?” the younger woman gushed before sighing. “I can’t believe he wants to marry me.”

Sensing the mood change, Sabine frowned and set her tea cup down. “Why wouldn’t he?”

Marinette shrugged. “I’m not human like him. Sure, he has magic, but it’s because he’s a superhero and can just take off his ring when he wants. But me? I’m a monster. I can make myself look human but I'll never truly be one.”

Sabine gasped. “A monster? You’re not a monster, dear.”

Marinette rolled her eyes again. “Of course you don’t think so, Maman. I am the monster you created. Full angel: half fallen, half not. Just look at me.”

She stood and dropped her glamor. White, puffy wings emerged from her back as tiny red horns protruded from her head. Her skin lightened until it was cream white and her eyes brightened until they were electric blue. She was honestly the perfect blend of her angelic and demonic sides.

“What human would want to marry and stayed married to this? Wake up to my feathers in his mouth or my horns poking his chest when we cuddle? What human would truly want to have children with this? Especially when we don’t know what my children would look like or if they’d be normal.”

"Chat-"

"Chat is weird! He's in love and one day the rose colored glasses will fall off and he'll regret marrying someone who looks like me."

Sabine’s heart clenched as the distress and pain started coming off her daughter in waves. She knew Marinette had wrestled with her self image a lot- it was hard not to when you were a supernatural being surrounded by humans- and it hurt to realize that those struggles were still happening.

Standing from her chair, she quickly went over and pulled her daughter into her arms. “My sweet, sweet Marinette. You’re beautiful. From your toes to the tip of your horns. All of your friends see it and Chat definitely does as well. You know he’s honest and transparent with everything he does. Do you really think he would propose if he didn’t love you? Do you think he cares about what humans think of as ‘normal’?”

Marinette teared up and relaxed in her arms. “No. But it’s hard not to worry about it. What if he realizes down the line that my other-ness is too much to handle? What if he doesn’t want me anymore?”

“I-”

“That’ll never happen, Milady.”

Both women jumped and turned to see Chat Noir at the door with Tom, both of who sported frowns.

“Chat.” Marinette hiccupped as the cat hero made his way over to the table.

“Marinette.” He whispered softly, pulling her into his own arms. “I will never not want you. Nothing could ever change that I want you and only you for the rest of my life. You are my soulmate. I love your wings, whether they look like your mother’s or father’s. I love the color of your skin, whether it’s sun kissed or the color of the fluffiest white cloud.” Wiping her tears, his frown softened into a soft smile. “And our children will be our perfect little surprises. Will they have wings like their grandma or pa? Will they have halos or horns? Will they have their papa’s green eyes or their mama’s beautiful blue eyes? Will they be punny like their hilarious papa or will they be creative like their mama? We won’t know until it’s time. I, for one, hope they have your horns and beautiful eyes.”

Marinette smiled as little visions of their children exactly the way he described them ran through her head. “I hope they have your humor and blonde hair.”

“Either way, they’ll be amazing.” Chat dropped a kiss on her lips. “Screw being normal. Neither of us have ever been normal and we'll never be and that's perfect for us.”

She giggled and nodded, comforted by his words. “You’re right. I guess this was my moment of cold feet.”

Chat nuzzled her cheek before whispering in her ear. “Wait til we’re home: I’ll warm them for you.”

Marinette’s cheeks burst into color before she glanced back at her grinning parents. Smiling, she whispered back, “Wow, you're being bold today."

His head tilted. "What do you mean?"

"You said that in front of my parents."

He nodded. "Yeah?

Marinette's smile widened. "You do know they can hear you, right? Super hearing.”

Chat’s own cheeks went bright red and he slowly turned to face her parents. Sabine was grinning widely as Tom lifted an eyebrow.

Oh shit!

How could he forget that Marinette’s parents were an angel and the literal devil who could hear a pin drop a mile away?!

“Tell us, Chat.” Tom smirked as his arms crossed over his chest. “How are you planning on warming her feet later?”

Marinette giggled as Chat began to stutter as he realized he'd been suggestive to the devil's daughter... in front of the devil himself! “Um… well… I- Y’know? Foot heaters? Or a massage to help with circulation.” His baton went off and he quickly checked it. Seeing the message, relief flew across his face before he schooled his expression. “Oh no. Multi-mouse says there’s an akuma! Time to go save the day! See ya!”

Tom and Sabine chuckled as Chat threw himself out the window and was gone seconds later.

“Your mortal is so fun to mess with, Angel. It's so cute to see the kitten get all flustered and nervous.” Tom chuckled as he embraced his daughter. “But he’s also absolutely right, you know?”

Marinette squeezed her papa. “I know. I’m so lucky to have him.”

“And we’re lucky to have you, our beautiful spawn.” Sabine assured as she joined the hug.

“Thanks Mama, Papa. I love you.”

“We love you too.”
