Summary
Alma Bonnet, now a twenty-year-old woman, is dismayed when a boy she loathes proposes to her. Seeking to escape from a society she has never felt at home in, Alma leaves Bridgetown to embrace a life at sea. But her past follows her: Eliza Badminton, the bane of Alma's school days and an unwelcome addition to Alma's adventures, has her own reasons for escaping the stifling society of colonial Barbados. Alma and Eliza find themselves growing closer as they face the perils and joys of a pirate's life. And when an unexpected enemy surfaces, Alma and Eliza must work together, despite their differences, to protect the crew that has become family.
