The Time Traveling Twins
Jalec Bingo / Writer's Month 2022
A scream interrupted Isabelle's training session with Clary. Not putting their weapons down, they immediately ran toward the source of the scream. Not the only ones either, other Shadowhunters were also already on their way. Yet what they found was not an attack.
"Ouch, ouch, ouch," a girl with long blonde hair groaned and sat up. "That landing was not great."
Another girl, brunette, grunted in reply. "Yeah, well, take it up with your local warlock."
They were both teenagers, sixteen at the oldest, and both of them omegas, judging by their scents. Vaguely familiar scents. Both were also Shadowhunters, the runes on their skin giving them away. When the blonde turned toward them, Isabelle blinked stunned. She knew that heterochromia was not exclusive to Jace and Jace alone, but she had never met anyone else with heterochromia before. And the blonde had the same kind of heterochromia as Jace.
"Auntie Iz!" the blonde exclaimed before throwing her arms up. "Thank the Angel!"
The next moment, Isabelle found herself hugged by the teenager. A bit confused did she return the hug, more on autopilot than anything else. Her eyes found Clary again, who just shrugged.
"Uhm. Who's that hugging Izzy?" Simon asked as he walked up to them. "Old friend?"
"Niece, apparently," offered Clary in confusion. "Though..."
"It was an accident, we swear," the brunette girl spoke up looking at them. "We didn't mean to time-travel. There was a spell going wrong and now we're here. I guess. Which... may or may not... be before our birth. It's hard to tell, with uncle Simon being immortal and you two aging gracefully."
"Uncle Simon," Simon made a curious noise. "Wait. Time-travel?"
"Ye—ep! And I guess we aren't born yet, because you look way baffled."
"I... Not that I would know?" Simon turned to look at Isabelle and Clary. "Nobody I know had a baby in recent years so... But it'd help if you'd tell us your name or something?"
"Oh, right. Manners. Great-grandma would chide us," the blonde grinned and thrust her hand out. "Liliana Herondale, that's my twin sister Rosalia. But you can call us Lily and Rose."
"Herondale?" Isabelle repeated in surprise. "So you do have Jace's eyes."
"Ye—es," Lily puffed her chest out a little. "Got dad's eyes. Pa always points that out too."
Rose rolled her own eyes at that. "You think we can crash here, until Bells figures out how to get us back? Since she was there when this spell hit us, she'll be able to figure out how to bring us back."
"Oh, I so wanna see this," Simon whispered into Clary's ear, who grunted her agreement.
Jace had two kids. Two very beautiful teen girls. Seeing Jace's reaction to that was definitely going to be interesting. Isabelle texted Magnus, requesting a portal to the loft, where Jace was still living. Even though Aldertree was no longer head of the Institute. But Izzy wasn't going to argue that, she understood that Jace wanted to be close to his parabatai and the High Warlock's loft was probably the safest place in all of New York. After all that'd happened so far, Jace deserved to feel safe.

Magnus sighed as he opened a portal to the Institute. That Institute, those Shadowhunters, they'd dragged him into a very messy situation. It wasn't all bad, he had met his lovely Alexander thanks to it and he cared deeply about the rest of their little makeshift pack. Magnus Bane, Alpha of a bunch of chaotic Shadowhunters. Who'd have thought. His eyes wandered over to the couch where his two favorite Shadowhunters laid curled together. Alexander with his arms around Jace, gently caressing the sleepy blonde's back. Jace had pulled another all-nighter looking for Valentine and Alec tried to sooth his parabatai into a nap at least. Peculiar how things changed.
Just a month ago, Magnus would have felt jealous. Not just of their closeness but also because he knew they shared a bond that Magnus would never be privy to. Their souls tied together. He also knew of the romantic feelings Alec harbored for Jace, feelings he had never acted upon because they were both men and Alec was a beta, Jace an omega. It just wasn't socially accepted.
Over the past month of Jace living with them, things had changed. Because Magnus got to know Jace, as more than just a rival for Alec's affection. And he'd gotten... attached, himself. The omega, hiding so much pain behind so much snark, Magnus recognized a lot of himself in Jace. Things they had started to bond over, things where they felt like they had finally found someone who understood. The two spent many late nights together on the balcony, drinking and talking.
"Why's there a portal?" Jace sounded sleepy as he lifted his head up from Alec's shoulders.
"Isabelle requested it," offered Magnus after a beat. "Why don't you go to bed for your nap, mh? I'll take care of whatever it is, I'm sure it won't take long, sweetheart."
Jace grunted, chin on Alec's shoulder, arms around the beta. "But that means moving... No."
Alec huffed out a laugh but he gladly hugged his parabatai even closer. Now, Magnus loved seeing them like this. Seeing his pretty beta and the beautiful omega they both liked together like that.
"We bring a big surprise for Jace," announced Simon as he stepped through.
A chorus of two eager, excited voices. "Dad!"
Magnus blinked in surprise as he watched two teenage girls run up to the couch to hug Jace. Huh.
"Time travel," offered Clary. "Jace's daughters from the future."
Immediately did Magnus' eyes find his boyfriend. There was a myriad of emotions going through Alec's eyes, from confusion, to awe, to jealousy. Of course. The idea that Jace had children, with someone else. Now that was... Magnus could hear his inner alpha growling displeased too. Oh. Perhaps he had grown far more attached to Jace than anticipated.
"...What?" Jace looked overwhelmed as he stared at the two girls.
"Hi, I'm Lily! I'm your daughter. That's my sister, Rose. You are so young, this is wicked."
"And your hair looks weird, why is it so short in the sides? I like it more when it's long."
"Well, so does ayah, so maybe he got dad to grow it out?"
Rose frowned and nodded. "That would make sense too."
Ayah? Magnus' eyebrows furrowed at that. That was the Indonesian word for dad. He only rarely got to speak the language anymore, but he'd never forgotten his mother tongue. Even if his home had changed a lot over the centuries, he never wanted to forget where he'd come from. But why would Jace's daughters...? Magnus' eyes wandered between the two girls and Jace.
"Why would you bring them here?" Jace turned to glare at Isabelle and Clary. "This is a bad idea, me meeting them, if they really are... who they say they are."
"Look at her!" Simon motioned widely between Jace and Lily. "She has your eyes too!"
"She does..." Magnus tilted his head as he approached Rose. "But those are..."
The same warm, brown eyes that Alexander, Isabelle and Maxwell shared. How peculiar.
"I got pa's eyes," Rose supplied. "Real Lightwood, to the core."
"L.. Lightwood?" Alec looked like he was having a stroke.
"Yeah, pa," replied Rose, looking directly at him, with a crooked grin.
Mh. Very peculiar. Magnus took a step back, finding himself in need for a drink. Dad. Pa. Ayah. Didn't take a genius to piece that together. Yet this was something Magnus had never considered before. He'd never considered being in a triad, with two others who could conceive a biological child. Slowly did he sit down, looking at the two girls. Children, of both his loves. How beautiful.
"I don't understand," Alec was cute when he looked this confused.
"...Oh," Lily winced, exchanging a look with her sister. "Did we land even before you guys got together? That's, uh... Uhm. Forget what we said! Actually, we were never here, okay? Yeah?"

For the most part did Clary and Simon question the girls about the future, with them avoiding most answers. Until the two just... disappeared again. Called back to their time. Now, Alec found himself on the balcony with his alpha. Magnus resting a soothing hand in Alec's neck.
"I still don't understand," Alec frowned. "How could I have children with Jace?"
"Well, when a beta and an omega-" Magnus stopped when his lover glared at him. "I assume I finally nudged you into confessing to Jace and giving us a chance. All three of us. They said their 'ayah' loved Jace's hair long. I... have to admit that I like it how he's been growing it out slowly..."
"So you think that all three of us..." Alec trailed off, making a curious little noise.
The curious noise was echoed by Jace in the doorway. Both Alec and Magnus turned toward him, taking his appearance in. There was something unfocused to Jace. He looked pretty much as overwhelmed by this as Alec. Understandably so, Magnus supposed.
"How are you holding up, sweetheart?" Magnus reached out for the blonde.
He wrapped his arm around Jace's waist to pull the omega closer to them both. Jace looked unsure. It was hard to deny, after what they'd just heard this afternoon, seen. He could smell it on Lily and Rose, smell himself on them. But how was he supposed to believe that there was a future waiting for him, where he got to have the two people he'd fallen for...? Love destroyed, didn't it?
"Do you..." Alec trailed off for a moment, frowning. "I love you, Jace. If I could have a future, with Magnus and you, I would... have everything I ever wanted."
"Oh," Jace stared at them wondrously, before a small smirk found its way onto his lips. "Yeah?"
"Yeah," the word was a breath against Jace's lips.
Magnus watched with a transfixed gaze how the parabatai leaned closer and closer until they finally kissed. And oh how good they looked together, his little Shadowhunters. One soul.
"I have to say, you two do make beautiful babies," Magnus teased.
The blush on Alec's cheeks was absolutely delightful and Magnus was positively surprised to see a light dusting of red on Jace's cheeks too. He supposed that this bright future laid far ahead of them and maybe they shouldn't lose sight of the now.
"Let's focus on the now instead of the future?" Magnus suggested, cupping Jace's cheek.
"Good... Good plan," Jace cleared his throat, trying not to get lost in Magnus' eyes.
Before either of them even made the conscious choice to, did the two find themselves kissing. Alec made the most peculiar sound as he got to watch the two men he loved kiss.
