Work Text:
”Hey Alex, check this out,” Morgan said, holding up a small crystal ball. ”I stole it from a Wizard. Apparently if you open it, you’ll be cursed so that everyone who sees you falls in love with you, and the only way to break it is true love’s kiss.”
Alex looked wholly unimpressed. ”You should. . . Probably put that down before you accidentally open it.”
”I’m not gonna accidentally open it.”
Alex looked unconvinced. ”See you say that, but no one ever intends to get cursed. But it always— happens anyway.”
Morgan opened the ball as soon as Alex finished saying always.
Morgan stared at it, then at Alex. ”Are you—?”
”No.”
Morgan felt relief. ”Oh thank god, it wasn’t real.”
”Oh no, it was very real. You are 100% cursed. Can see it plain as day.”
Shit.
”Wait, if— if the curse is real why aren’t you—?”
Alex looked insulted. ”Because I’m me. Like— do you honestly think some piddly little love curse would affect me? Like, come on.”
Right. All powerful.
”Right. Of course.” Morgan paused. ”So would you be able to break this curse or—”
”Yeah. Easily.”
”In that case can you go ahead and break the curse?“
Alex sighed. ”Sure.” Then they leaned forwards and kissed Morgan.
Fireworks. Fireworks fireworks Morgan was flying—
Alex pulled away. ”And just like that— curse free.”
Morgan touched their lips gently with a hand, disbelieving. ”Wait, what?”
”I said the curse is broken. Like, you’re good.”
Morgan still couldn’t believe it. ”Was that. . .?”
”True love’s kiss. Yeah.” Alex was acting completely normal. ”You wanna complain about it or something? It got the job done.”
Alex loved them. Alex loved them.
”Are you— are you sure the curse is broken? Cause like I still feel a little bit cursed. We might need to do that again.”
Annoyance flickered over Alex’s face. ”Of course I’m sure. Like could you stop underestimating me? You think I can’t break a curse?“
What Morgan was really asking for seemed to register in Alex’s mind. ”Although now that you mentioned it, it never hurts to be sure.”
Morgan surged forwards and kissed them again.
