Because he's a martyr who forgot what love feels like (although he can't forget the pain)

Summary:

Because they want to love you
and you've already forgotten love.

Notes:

I try, probably doing it terribly but well, still trying.

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Work Text:

Because even though everyone loves you, you don't see it,
you don't want to see it, you can't believe it.

How could anyone love you?
How could anyone love the scars on your body?
And the scars on your mind? And the scars on your battered heart?
How could anyone dare to love you,
when all you bring is pain?
When that's all you know, all you understand?

Because the world crumbled you to the ground,
took away everything you loved,
everything you had,
everything you knew.

Because you're empty,
empty but full of blood,
of that red and impure blood that seeps through your veins,
that soaks the ground,
filling the pipes and the lakes and the cities and the sea itself.

For how would you be able to understand,
to accept,
to desire love,
when all that follows is so, oh so painful.

And you hate pain;
and you hate death;
and you hate the world;
and you hate everything you are.

Everything you stand for.

But they don't care,
they who fear nothing more than losing you,
they who follow you like bugs to the light,
like lost ships to a lighthouse,
like plants to the sun,
and waters to the moon.

Because they want to love you
and you've already forgotten love.

Because they want to be by your side
and you're so scared.

There's so much fear inside you, dear,
so much that I want to take away from you,
so much that I want to cry for you,
so much I want to beg you:

"Let yourself be loved,
just for one night,
I beg you.
Let yourself be loved."

Notes:

I have twitter, retrospring and a carrd!
