They had done it! They had stopped the Ark from colliding with earth! Sonic looked to his side, to look at his newest friend, only to see he that he wasn’t there.
Looking down he saw that Shadow was falling, his super form fading along with his distance. And he knew he had to do something. He couldn’t just let Shadow fall! But the moment he tried to reach for Shadow?
He couldn’t move. He was stuck in place.
It was almost as if an outside force was preventing him from grabbing Shadow.
But he can’t let it end like this, Shadow is hero! Shadow doesn’t deserve such a fate!
But he can’t move.
He needs to do something!
But he can’t move.
He has to move!
But he can’t move.
Move!
But he can’t move.
MOVE!!!
But he can’t-
JUST MOVE!!!!!

He can feel himself shaking from the strain. Something feels wrong.
But that doesn’t matter right now. He can move again. He has to help Shadow. I mean he still has enough time to rescue Shadow, here’s sure of it!
Yet something in the back of his mind tells him he knows it’s not true.
Upon reaching Shadow he stretches out his hand. “Grab on!”
Shadow looks surprised to see him for a moment and stated “You’ll just fall with me” before his eyes softened. “Yet here you are trying to be a savior until the very end...” a bitter smile commented.
Apprehensively, Shadow stretches his hand toward Sonic’s. Yes! He’s so close to saving him! He stretches his hand as much as he can and eventually their hands clasp.
All he needs is Shadow’s other hand and he can pull them up. He’ll still have some time left on his Super form!
But deep inside he knows that he's only giving himself false hope.
“Take my other hand! It’ll be faster!”
But they both knew that in reality it was just a convenient excuse to not say “my super form is running low on rings and I need to conserve strength.”
They managed to clasp each other’s hands but the feeling of wrongness was back in full force. He shouldn’t be able to do this.
Somethings wrong.
They weren’t supposed to be this close.

But hadn’t he just been reaching out to someone? Why was he the one falling? And yet to say that he hadn’t been the one falling didn’t feel quite right.
What’s going on? And why did they feel so wrong?

That’s not right. He’s just a single person.

They can feel himself plummeting and they’re so confused what is happening to him.
