And their shoes always fit, ‘cause if they don’t, then they just get new ones.” He dug his fingers into the dirt. “And there’s always food in the fridge and they all have pet dogs.”
Neal felt his own cheeks redden. It made his insides squirm, knowing that Peter and Diana and Jones were seeing all of this. He could just imagine them comparing the words the kid on the ground said with his present day behaviors, matching cause with effect like pairs of playing cards.
