Chapter Text

Horror in Hawkins!

Will the nightmare ever end?

This 30-year-old murder shows that the town might have never been the quiet place it was once believed to have been.

A chilling discovery has taken the town of Hawkins, Indiana, by storm. Following an ongoing investigation by the Hawkins Police Department, it has now been confirmed that old-time Hawkins resident, 90-year-old Harold Winters, was responsible for the murder of 18-year-old football prodigy Ethan Webster, who was last seen two weeks before his high school graduation in June 1951.

Bedridden after a diagnosis of Stage IV pancreatic cancer, Winters chose to confess his 30-year-old crime to the heroic Assistant Chief of Police Jim Hopper, who launched a full-blown investigation in hopes of confirming the veracity of this heinous murder.

This is only the latest incident in a series of unsettling events that have shaken this town to its very core. Disappearances, deaths resulting from chemical leaks, serial murders and a devastating earthquake that took the lives of nearly a hundred residents, this once peaceful town had been the constant subject of misfortune and calamity for the past five years.

Starting with the disappearance of the 12-year-old William Byers and culminating with the now infamous Munson Murders at the hands of the allegedly-disbanded Hellfire Club, the recent wave of crime and adversity has left the population with a desire to understand who is to blame for these tragedies. Between unprepared officers and the continuous negligence of the recently elected Mayor Timothy Jackson, people are starting to wonder if the Hawkins Police Department can truly protect them all.

No potential punishment against Harold Winters has been mentioned. The felon has been on house arrest since he first confessed to his crime.
