The man gulped, nervously glancing toward Avery’s mate with a look reminiscent of someone silently seeking permission, before quickly looking at Avery again. “An aphrodisiac… specifically made for omegas.”
Oh.
“Oh.” Avery took a moment to let that sink in, subsequently realizing that he, in fact, did not mishear it the first time. “Um,” Avery cleared his throat, suddenly feeling awkward. He couldn’t help but laugh at the situation as his mind started scrambling to find a solution to minimize whatever was brewing in the situation. “Is that what it was? I’m a beta, it can’t be that—”
As soon as Avery revealed his second gender, or lack thereof, the man instantly went pale, just as Derek’s hand tightened in his.
“—bad.” Just like that, seeing the man’s reaction made Avery feel even more anxious, brewing quietly in his stomach. Avery gulped, his back suddenly growing damp, and phew, was it just him, or was the weather becoming hotter than usual?

“Oh my! I had no idea you were even there!” Despite the obvious lie the toddler seemed to believe him. Even though he had watched the boy toddle into the room, crawl around behind the desk in his office, and wriggle up into the drapes. All within the past twenty or so minutes. Completely unsubtle and uncoordinated.-
Bruce Wayne watches a husband and wife fall. And then their son is kidnapped. He works tirelessly through the night to find the young boy before it's too late. And along the way he finds something he never realized he was searching for. A family.
