~Intro~
Heya! I recently got back into Steven universe, and thought why not write about a character I like? I’m unsure if anyone else will read this lol, any other Steven universe books I saw were made years ago, and honestly I think the fandom died-
But I still wanna do something with the ideas floating around in my head.
So, there’s that.
I originally posted this on Quotev, so if you want to see chapts sooner, or the original book creation, go to NyxTheLynx on Quotev.
Sadly AO3 doesn’t have everything Quotev does, so I had to alter a lot of things.
(For example: Quotev let’s me indent, underline, bold, etc text, while AO3 doesn’t seem to….It also let’s me center stuff, Which AO3 doesn’t do >:l
But I know peeps like this site, including me when it comes to reading, so, huh, here I am lols :3)
Without too many spoilers, I’ll share the overall plot of the story!
That way you can tell whether you’ll like this book, and hopefully think about reading it. Starting out with a book trailer though Lmfao-
Cause of how AO3 is I had to change the trailer slightly.
The parts that start/end with “~” are the trailer parts, while the story bits are, well, the trailer bits. Showing bits of the story that may happen, to create a small plot/summary of the book :3

“H-hey, are you alright?” The curly haired boy asked as he approached me, weary.
~When their home rejects what they find different~
“Pearl! W-we need help!” Steven’s voice broke through my foggy thoughts. Where was I? What happened? Why was…why did they hurt
me like this…?
~And they’re introduced to a new family~
“Steven….I think they’re- I think they’re a half gem, like you.” Pearl said as she healed my gem, my once weak state getting better.
~Y/n finally gets to discover what and who they are~
“These old paintings…I think they relate to your past, Y/n.” Garnet said, resting a hand on the ruin walls.
~And learns that sometimes, ignorance truly is bliss~
“I-I was meant- BUILT, to destroy worlds Steven! I-I can’t stay here- I can’t stay with you guys, I’ll only get you all hurt!” I said
through tears, keeping myself distanced from the gems surrounding me.
~Y/n will have to decide, if they’re an end to a current world, or a new beginning for another.~
“Yeah, cheer up. We can’t have you all mopey if we want to get our f/f on!” Amethyst added, knowing it was my favourite food as they
put a reassuring hand on my shoulder.
~Will the love be worth it?~
“L-look, I think, I might, maybesortalikeyou-?” I rushed the words out, closing my eyes as if in fear of the reaction I’d see on their face.
~Will the truth be worth it?~
“Y/n…You’re….different. You were meant to do all these things, but with the old world gone-“ Garnet was cut off by amethyst bursting
into the room.
“Guys, we have trouble!”
~Will their new family, be worth all the risk?~
“We aren’t leaving you Y/n, not now, not ever, not since we first met you! We don’t want you gone, kay? We want you here.” Steven
reasoned, voice emotional as I stepped closer to a doom I thought was my fate.
~Yes, obviously they’re worth it.~
“Well, it’s a shame you’ll have to KILL ME FIRST!” I threw myself forward, equipping my weapon mid-leap and colliding with the enemy,
leaving a weakened Steven and pearl to stare in disbelief at my new found rage.
~Stay and read as Y/n finds their way, and carves a new path into a world they never thought they had a purpose in, and a family
they’d give every fighting breath to.~

~FULL SUMMARY~
Y/n never knew their parents. They were adopted into a family at a young age, and no one had any clue what they were.
Afterall, no one had any clue what it meant to have actual gems on your body, or why it is Y/n didn’t seem to require as much food or sleep as others.
Little did anyone know, Y/n was a half gem.
As their mistreated family finally rids of Y/n at the ripe age of 16-18 (or however old ya wish to be ig) it’s then that they flee to a nearby small town, and meet a teenager by the name of Steven.
It’s hard to trust him at first, but with a weakened and cracked gem, Y/n has no choice as he rushes them to his own home.
Y/n wakes up on his couch, and is slowly but surely from then on treated by the whole gem team.
(So, to be clear, this is when Steven is a bit older, and he more or so befriended many gems. So there’ll be quite a few gem encounters lol)
As they learn y/n who is, what they’re capable of, and even where they came from,
The gems discover far more than they ever bargained for,
Y/n being a gem they’d never think to meet.
With Y/n learning how much they’re worth,
Discovering their first love amongst the crystal gems,
And being either the end, or new beginnings to all gems,
Y/n has to race against time to keep their new family safe.
