Chapter Text
“Yo, can you close up shop tonight? I gotta pick my kid up”
Button looked up from her sewing machine,“Sure, go ahead; I have to finish some stuff here anyways”
Her co-worker smiled,”Thanks! Don’t work yourself too hard, alright?”
"No prom-"
Before she even finished her sentence she was gone, the only proof that he was even there in the first place was his sewing machine, which was still on.
"-ises" Button finished, then her open smile quickly dropped into something more confused
"Hello Button" A monotonous voice rang out
That confusion quickly turned into frustration, "Airy, we talked about this! You can't just-"
"You said to bring you here at 9…it's about ", Airy paused, probably taking a look at the time,"8:50…Yeah 8:50"
Did she really work for that long? It seemed that it was only 7am only a few minutes ago. Then again, today was quite busy, so maybe…
"You couldn't wait those 10 minutes? I disappeared in front of someone, they're probably calling the police!"
Airy paused once again,"Oh…sorry"
"So, can you send me back?," Button asked, getting a sense of deja vu
"No"
"Airy…" Button said, sounding more like a disappointment mother
"It's for a good reason" Airy quickly responded
Button took a deep breath,"You know what?" He said,"Sure, I’m already here. What's this grand reason that you couldn't wait 10 minutes for?"
"Last time we talked you-uh mentioned that you…liked someone for a while. What was that like?”
Was THIS why he teleported her here? To figure out some feelings?
“Well-,” Now it was Button’s turn to pause, he didn’t know how to explain it without it sounding like he was describing the symptoms of an anxiety or panic attack,”I felt nervous around her, but I was also happy to be around her? I would think of a way to get with her, even had this whole plan to do just that!”
“That’s weird”
“I was in high school”
“...High school you was weird”
“Yeah. Anyway, I never saw her again after freshman year, she probably moved”
Airy hummed,”Is it normal to…not feel that?”
“Love? Yeah, it may not be common, but it’s still normal,” Button explained,”Why?”
There was silence for a bit, Button patiently waited as she knew rushing Airy was only going to stress him out.
“I never…felt that before,” Airy was talking a little slower now
“And that’s fine! Some feel it some don’t, it’s like how I’m a circle but Bassy is…bass-shaped,”Button explained, not really thinking through the analogy but hoped that it’s getting through to Airy in some way,”It’s just how we’re made and we can’t change stuff like that. Just know that I support you”
“Thanks, Button” Airy said, there was the slightest hint of a smile in his voice
“Anytime, Airy, anytime”
