A Night In

Summary:

While Izuku and EIjirou are out, their lovers have a quiet night to themselves.

Notes:

I am so sorry this took so long, I hope you like it.

Work Text:

Katsuki paced up and down in front of Shoto’s front door, trying to gather all his courage and just knock and the damn half and half’s door. The elemental knew he was coming, they’d had this planned out for weeks now; Izuku and Eijirou would go out and find the dragon a suit for the wedding and Shoto and Katsuki would have the night to themselves. A quiet night together while their fiance and husband were having their own time together.

He was just raising his hand to finally knock when the door swung open and he was met with Shoto’s surprised face, hair tied up in his usual ponytail, half-mask in place, and shrugging on a coat they both knew the taller man didn’t really need.

They stared at each other for a long, painfully awkward minute, before Shoto stepped back, holding the door open a little wider for the Greenman to enter, “I thought you had forgotten about me, I was about to go and find myself a new book to occupy my time while I was alone.” he eventually murmured, head bowed slightly in deference.

Katsuki winced, the knot tightening in his stomach at once again causing this beautiful man unnecessary strife, “No, I’ve been here, just couldn’t get myself to actually… knock.” he said, almost lamely. He slipped through the door, kicking off his shoes as Shoto closed the door and held out a hand, a small apple tree growing out of his palm and blossoming, “I… here.”

Shoto pursed his lips at the blooming tree, not sure how he was supposed to accept this gift without hurting the other, “Thank you, Katsuki, but… what would you like me to do with that?” he asked, cocking his head slightly, inspecting the almost bonsai sized tree.

Katuski blushed, pinching the small trunk at its base with his other hand and tugging it free slowly, roots slowly elongating from the wood grain in his palm. Shoto watched fascinatedly as they pulled free, complete with minuscule root hairs. Once it was free, Katsuki once again offered the tree to Shoto, “Here.” he mumbled again, cheeks still flushed the same pale pink as the shrub’s petals.

Shoto carefully cupped it in his own palms, bowing his head, “Thank you, Katsuki. I was endeavour to watch it thrive, though you are the arborist, I have merely been able to watch from the sidelines as you have preserved Izuku’s tree.

Katsuki waved him off with an embarrassed huff, “Stop bringing that shit up, Sho. You know it’s only going to upset you again,” he mumbled, leaning in to softly kiss the corner of his mouth, “You damn sappy bastard. With your father, we’re lucky you have a soul.”

Shoto half smiled with his own blush, cupping the tree carefully closer to his chest, “You are sweet as well, Katsuki. What would you like to do tonight?”

Katsuki shrugged, “I don’t really care, whatever you want. Whatever you’re comfortable with.”

Shoto nodded, taking his tree toward the spotless kitchen, pulling a bowl from one of the cabinets to place it in, “What should I do to keep this little thing alive?” he asked, glancing back at where Katsuki was leaning against the doorway.

“Just put it on a towel in some water, I’ll get you some dirt tommorow.” Katsuki shrugged it off, “...Do you actually want me here or should I just… go?” the blond asked, shifting awkwardly.

Shoto looked to him with wide eyes, “No! No, please, Katsuki. You do not need to go anywhere, this will be your home soon as well as mine, I did not mean to make you feel unwelcome. I apologize if I have.”

Katsuki huffed, surging forward, fingers curling in Shoto’s hair as he pulled him down to silence him with another kiss, “You talk too much, ya damn beanpole.” he mumbled against his lips, “Just think about yourself for once.”

Shoto smiled slightly against his lips, setting the tree aside to rest his hands on Katsuki’s waist as he slowly, ever so tentatively kissed him back. Even after all these years (centuries, millenia ) he never got used to benig allowed to do this. Even when they’d become something a little more official, had actually announced their intentions to each other, and their feelings, it still didn’t feel quite right.

Katsuki, as if sensing the rising trepidation in the other again, swept the taller man off his feet, eliciting an amusing yelp of surprise, and carried him toward the living room, depositing him onto the couch and leaning down to stare challengingly into his eyes, “Stop that.”

Shoto’s flush darkened to match his hair, looking up at him wide eyed as their noses bumped, “Stop… stop what?”

“Overthinking,” Katsuki said, reaching up to gently tug the mask away, tossing it aside and rubbed where the silver had dug into tender flesh, “You’re spiraling again, I can see it in your shoulders.”

“My shoulders?” Shoto asked with a confused furrow to his brows.

Katsuki nodded, dropping heavily onto the couch beside Shoto and pulled the bi-colored man into his lap, starting to rub gently at his shoulders, “Yeah, they’re tensing again. You’re an anxious mess, it’s a damn good thing everyone else is so unobservant when it comes to anything beyond your pretty face.”

Shoto chuckled softly, the sound turning into a pleasured groan when Katsuki’s skilled fingers found that knot just below his neck that he hadn’t realised when so tight until that moment.

Katsuki press a kiss to the back of his neck, continuing his ministrations until all of Shoto’s tense muscles had relaxed, then tugged him back to lean against his chest, arms around his waist, “Feeling better now, you damn worrywart?” he murmured softly into his ear.

Shoto nodded, turning his head to kiss under Katsuki’s jaw, “Thank you, Kats. I… I really do appreciate it.” he mumbled in return.

Katsuki hugged him a little tighter, reaching for a blanket and the remote to the tv so they could watch something while they cuddled like this, a comfortable domestic moment.

Shoto curled up a little more against his chest, turning to sit across his lap as he ran his hand through Katsuki’s hair, half paying attention to whatever the blond put on, just glad he wasn’t alone again.

Katsuki eventually found an older action movie that he’d seen before and enjoyed, setting the volume to be just loud enough for them to hear but also talk over if they wanted to, and settled down with him, his hand slipping under Shoto’s shirt to gently trail his fingers over bare skin.

Shoto caught his other hand eventually, thumb rubbing over his knuckles in turn, blinks lengthening slowly until he was asleep, his face pressed into Katsuki’s neck, breaths tickling sun tanned skin.

Katsuki smiled down at him when he realized the other had passed out, ever so slowly and carefully shifting them to lay down on the couch, curled up together, and turned the movie down further so it wouldn’t wake Shoto as Katsuki kept watching.

After the movie finished and the sequel as well, Katsuki switched off the tv and tucked Shoto just that little bit closer, pressing a kiss to the top of his head, “Sleep well, you damn Ice Cube.” he murmured affectionately, letting himself fall asleep as well, face buried in Shoto’s soft tie dyed locks.

Eijirou and Izuku came sneaking in closer to midnight, giggling together like two teenagers coming home from a first date, late after curfew. They didn’t bother with the lights as they snuck their way around, hissing to each other to be quiet when they’d bump into something and giggle away again.

They froze like deer in headlights when the light at the end of the couch was flicked on, Katsuki glaring at them disapprovingly, Shoto still curled up asleep against his chest. His eyes promised unimanginable pain if they woke him up, his hand still lightly rubbing up and down his bag.

They mouthed their apologies, scampering off without another incident to one of their bedrooms to safely continue their giggling without disturbing the others.

Shoto lifted his head to blink slowly up at Katsuki, rubbing the blond’s chest soothingly in turn, “Is something the matter?” he whispered, looking up with his wide, doe-eyed, mismatched gaze.

Katsuki ducked his head to peck his lips again, “Nothing, Snowflake, get some more rest. The idiots just got home.” he informed lowly.

Shoto nodded, bowing his head to nuzzle Katsuki’s chest as he settled down to go back to sleep again, “Were they alright? Did it look like they had a good time?” he asked, muffled by Katsuki’s shirt.

Katsuki returned to rubbing his shoulders, “Yeah, they looked like they had a good day. Stop worrying about them, I’ll take care of anything tonight if they need it.”

Shoto nodded, pressing a kiss where his heart should have been, “Thank you, Katsuki. I do not know how we would survive without you.”

“It’d be a damn mess, that’s for sure. Now go the fuck to sleep.”

Shoto nodded again, falling asleep almost on cue, but not without the last word, “Love you, Kats.”

Kasuki huffed slightly, gently pulling the elastic from Shoto’s hair, letting it fall around them, “love you too.”
