“Friday—”
“I have dispatched a new suit, Boss. ETA is thirty-nine minutes. Please remain calm.”
Distantly, the muffled sound of a QuinJet departing, if one knew what to listen for.
“Friday....”
“I have alerted your doctor in Germany. They will stand by with Dr. Cho’s report from the suit download. I recommend a light coma--”
More coughing.
“Friday?”
“Boss, the video footage appears…accurate. I am cross-matching it to the records released by the SHIELD data dump. I will leave a report on your private server for later.”
Windswept snow melted on contact.
“Friday….”
“I am monitoring Colonel Rhodes’ surgical prep. He appears calm, though he did inquire if you had returned to the States yet.”
The blood was stark against the snow.
“Friday—”
“I will tell him that you will be there soon.”
Further in the base, the creaks and groans of collapsing equipment, as history fell in on itself.
“Friday….”
“I have dispatched a ResQ suit prototype from the villa in Italy. ETA is twelve minutes. It is older, but you will be more comfortable.”
“Friday….”
“I will not leave you. Just breathe. I am here.”
