The sound of Chen’s mad laughter entered Clouse’s ear and straight into his evil brain. Dopamine and serotonin flowed freely within his head as his old muscles relaxed and a small smile pulled at his chapped lips. His eyes watched his master lean back in his chair, clapping away excitedly as he watched the elemental masters fall right into his trap.
Chen was a man of power and the tournament showed it, but he was also a man who knew how to push the right buttons. From interrupting tests for new spells to yelling stupid orders like a little child, Chen was annoying. Many of the staff from guards to cooks agreed on this notion. Whenever Chen entered the room there would be chaos, so the staff stayed on their guard. Their eyes always followed the looney king wherever he went; and when he left there was always a sigh of relief. Many of Chen’s kabuki have asked Clouse how he could stand the man. Always showing pity and empathy.
Clouse was in the same boat as the rest of the staff. He believed Chen was childish, annoying, and chaotic, but while those traits were a pain in the ass to deal with, Clouse also loved him nonetheless. Those traits were something Clouse does enjoy to see. To see Chen’s chaotic and eccentric mannerisms. His genius when it comes to planning. Clouse loved it all.
“What are you looking at, Clouse?” Chen’s voice cut through the sorcerer’s thoughts and when Clouse came back to the living world, he witnessed his master’s puzzled expression. “Nothing, Master Chen. Just thinking.”
“Well, think about getting Garmadon out of here.” Chen’s gaze was hard and stern. Garmadon was getting on his nerves too. “Yes, Master Chen.”
