There was an abandoned, and somewhat dilapidated art studio at the edge of school grounds that had recently become her own private ballet studio; fellow students and classmates seldom approached the structure, and the teachers and other faculty did not care much for it, instead simply letting it fall on its own.
"It costs too much money and trouble to deal with problems like that," they had replied to her once, when she had asked why it was not torn down yet.
Being endowed with this knowledge of the school's negligence, she did not expect to see this person here at all. Lost within the gloom of the building that she had cleared out herself, and illuminated by shafts of light from the cracked windows that lined the walls, a tall, and sagging figure stood silently within the empty space, their back facing the entrance where she stared from.
The creak of the door opening alerted him, and he slowly turned to face her, his movements cautious, and one might even believe him to be anxious from his hunched posture.
Innocent, and yet deeply hurt, dark brown irises locked onto her confused, and surprised eyes.
"...Cha Hyun-Su?"
All at once, Lee Eun-Yoo wondered over how much "money and trouble" it would cost for all of the tired, neglectful teachers to actually take care of problems โ problems like herself, and the bullied and broken boy who used to be brilliantly radiant before her.
She felt saddenedโsaddened, and angry, and confused; furious at the negligence that made this boy, who had always been flying higher than she could reach, fall down with them. When she wished to someday reach him, this was not what she had held in mind.
The door that held the future to them was passed through.
It shut behind her resolutely.
