Routine

Summary:

Dream gets home from his daily patrol looking forward to his nightly routine.

Notes:

I feel like Spider-Man Dream needs more love.
This is very dialogue heavy, because I am a very dialogue heavy writer.

Work Text:

Coming home after nightly patrols used to be cleaning wounds, eating something and then going to sleep. Puffy finding out did change Dream's routine slightly but by much.

The real change happened when Dream moved in with George. Since finding out that Dream was Spider-Man, George had made it his mission to be the tallers personal medic, taking care of everything from the tiniest nicks to full wounds that would require hospitalisation for the ordinary person. But luckily for both of them, Dream was not typical.

Since moving in with George, the routine had become ingrained into their average evening. Get home to the apartment smelling like whatever George had cooked (or bought) awaiting Dream's arrival, eat together, move to the bathroom to tend to injuries, shower, and then bed. It quickly became Dream's favourite part of the day, being looked after by his boyfriend.

Dream landed on the fire escape for his apartment, carefully shuffling the window open to not disturb George. It wasn't often that his patrols ran over time, and he had told George not to wait up for him because it would most likely just be him getting caught up talking to the police.

A light flicked on in the apartment, and George stepped out of their bedroom rubbing his eyes, dressed in flannel pants and one of Dream's shirts. "I'm sorry for falling asleep."

"Oh George," Dream cooed as he stepped towards the brunette, "You can sleep if you need, I don't want you to be tired."

"I need to patch you up, I saw you get hit in the face on the news," George hummed, hooking his fingers between the fabric of his mask and suit, carefully lifting it off before pulling him down into a kiss.

"Of course they got that on camera," Dream sighed. "It wasn't too hard so don't worry too much."

George took a moment to examine Dream's face, cautiously looking over every cut and bruise as if his gaze would cause Dream pain. "I'll get some water and antiseptic wipes, go sit on the bed," he ordered, walking into the kitchen.

The sounds of cupboards opening and closing filled the apartment, muffled by the bedroom door. Dream took a moment to take his suit off, only getting some pyjama pants on before the door swung open.

"No shirt tonight?"

"I just took my suit off, don't get your hopes up, babe," he laughed, webbing a shirt from the open closet and pulling it over his head.

George sighed as he sat on the bed, patting the spot next to him. "How was your patrol?"

Another thing that had become routine was talking about his patrols. George was always curious to hear what Dream had experienced, especially since the news didn't broadcast the smaller, friendly-neighbourhood aspect of his job.

"It was good," Dream hummed as George rubbed a wipe over a cut on his cheek. "Helped an old lady get to the animal shelter, signed a kid's cast. It was a nice night, so much better now that Phantom is locked up."

"I bet. Hold up, this is gonna sting," George warned as he cleaned a deep scratch on his face. "He caused so much havoc, I don't think any other villain would show up for a while. I feel for his brother though, only nine and his brother is in a high security prison."

"At least they had the choice to stay in New York. Imagine having to move because of it." Dream watched as George put the used wipes aside before opening the bandages on his lap.

"Do you remember collapsing on my fire escape that night? I thought you were bleeding out."

"Yeah, I do," the blonde smiled. "You were super worried when I woke up."

"I'm super worried all the time. You do that to me," George grinned as he softly kissed his forehead, yelping as Dream pulled them down on the mattress.

"You know I'm okay. Plus I have a super sexy doctor who gives me care and bandaids all for free."

George laughed into Dream's neck, the soft chuckles erupting butterflies in the blonde's stomach. "It's not gonna be free forever, love, I might start charging you kisses for each bandage."

"Well lucky I'm a kiss millionaire," Dream joked as he kissed the brunette's face. One on the nose, one on each cheek, before capturing George's lips on his own and kissing him deeply.

They both parted for air with a smile, a deep blush dusted over George's face, another little aspect of George that Dream loved so much.

"I'll give you a discount for being Spider-Man," the brunette proposed as he curled into Dream's side. "I mean, you've saved the city countless times, someone's gotta repay you for it."

"I think all the repaying I need is cuddles with my boyfriend and sleep," Dream replied, pulling the crumpled covers over their legs. "You didn't have to wake up to look after me, I could have done it myself."

"But then it would ruin our routine," George mumbled into his shirt, and Dream's heart melted again. "And I like looking after you."

"I didn't realise you saw this as a routine," Dream smiled, pressing another kiss on George's temple.

"Am I wrong for seeing it that way?"

"No, of course not baby. It's a nice routine to have, right?"

"Yeah," George sighed, nuzzling into Dream's chest. "There's pizza in the fridge if you want some. I'm gonna go to sleep now if that's okay."

"Of course, George. You don't ever need to ask if it's okay to sleep. I woke you tonight anyways."

A soft laugh vibrated through Dream's chest. "Yeah, woke me up doing sexy Spider-Man shit."

"I woke you up by opening the window."

"Yeah," he retorted, "after doing sexy Spider-Man shit."

"I hardly think that getting punched in the face counts as 'sexy Spider-Man shit'." Dream ran a hand through George's hair, getting a soft hum from the brunette.

"It does to me. Sexy Spider-Man."

"Is that my new alias?" Dream asked.

George just nodded into his chest, wrapping his arms around Dream's torso. "I've changed my mind, you actually can't have pizza, you have to snuggle with me."

"I wasn't planning on leaving the bed anyways, too tired," Dream said, a yawn splitting his sentence.

"I'll make a big breakfast to make up for it," George suggested as he gently kissed the blonde's jaw.

"You're so good to me, George." Dream went to speak again but noticed the brunette's breathing even out.

The end of the routine was the best part. When George would fall asleep before Dream, leaving the blonde to listen to soft breathing to lull himself to sleep, wrapped up in the covers with the man he loved.

"Goodnight, love," Dream smiled, letting himself eventually fall into a comfortable sleep.

Notes:

I'm planning on making a series of oneshots centred around Dream as Spider-Man. I'm actually planning a 5+1 (really a 3+1) that I should hopefully get finished soon!
