Work Text:
Yennefer wanted everything to be perfect for their tenth anniversary, so many things had happened since she and Triss had become a couple. They’d gone through highs and lows, but above all they had each other.
The Witchers, Jaskier, and Ciri had become family. Ciri was an honorary daughter for them and the two witches happily took the young girl in whenever her male protectors couldn’t watch over her.
Everyone was excited for the girls to celebrate another year together, and Yennefer was overjoyed to count another successful year with her love. So she devised a plan to celebrate the day that meant so much.
Jaskier and Ciri were tasked with distracting Triss all day while Yennefer put together the perfect medley to show Triss how thankful she was that they were able to call one another their own.
Yennefer got to work quickly and their little cottage in Kaer Morhen soon smelt of fresh baked goodies and fresh cut fruit. The violet eyed sorceous’s blouse was speckled with flour and juice splatters from the strawberries, oranges, and blackberries. A few blueberries were squished into the floor tiles, and she couldn’t help but admit an apple slice or two had been accidentally thrown across the room when a timer went off and they slipped from her grasp.
Yennefer delicately placed each berry exactly in the right place, she then arranged each tart and cake in a pattern to ensure each dessert had an exact place. She then used leftover berries and fruit to fill the empty space on the tray. A marigold and lavender was placed on either end of the tray and she plopped it onto the table.
Yennefer then began to clean the kitchen counter and blueberry stained hardwood. Once the kitchen was spotless she changed out of her clothes and put on the dress Triss loved on her the most, she made sure her curls were perfect and checked for fruit juice on her skin before heading out to the gardens to see if she could find her girl.
She heard Jaskier’s voice soft and sweet in the distance, making her way past the flowers and she came to a spot under a large willow. Triss was sitting on one of the willow’s large protruding roots with Ciri in her lap while she braided the girl's hair back and placed flowers within the strands of white. Jaskier was playing them another one of his beautiful songs, his voice projecting through the gardens.
Yennefer smiled as she watched Triss fuss over Ciri so lovingly, Jaskier spotted Yennefer and she nodded to him letting him know he no longer had to stall, though she did not mind listening to him sing for longer.
She slowly made her way towards them and sat beside Triss wrapping her arm around her. Triss smiled, planting a soft kiss on her cheek before returning to finish braiding Ciri’s hair back. The young girl smiled loving the attention but she also knew it was important for them to get Triss back to their cottage. “Would you mind if I had this dance?” Yennefer asked holding her hand out for Triss as Ciri climbed off her lap and sat beside her.
Triss smiled and stood up taking Yennefer’s hand in her own. Triss laughed and smiled as Yennefer led her in the dance, Ciri took it upon herself to shake the willow trees looking branches which hailed a multitude of leaves that cascaded down upon them in a flurry of spirals.
Their dresses swept against one another as they laughed and stole kisses while Jaskier played his lute and sang about love and passion.
Yennefer was overjoyed to have Triss and she was thankful her found family helped her celebrate the women she loved without question. The two continued to dance until the song was over. “Can you play another? I’d love to let Ciri join us even if you rest your voice and it’s only the lute.”
“Anything for my favorite ladies.” Jaskier hummed as he began another light hearted tune for them to dance and laugh to. Yennefer and Triss took Ciri up in their arms and the two danced with the girl they claimed as their own. Ciri snuggled into them as they spun about the three girls' hair bouncing just as their dresses swayed.
Jaskier swooned at the sight before him, true love and family dancing to his tunes. He adored his family more than life and he was beyond thankful he could witness it right before his eyes everyday within the walls of Kaer Morhen.
Once the song was finished Ciri made her way to stand by Jaskier knowing where her adoptive mothers would head next. Yennefer nodded to them as a thank you, she took Triss by the hand and led her through the garden leaving small kisses and whispering word of love as they walked. Triss leaned on Yennefer as they made their way back to their little cottage.
“Happy Anniversary Triss.” Yennefer exclaimed as she opened the door to their home. Triss’s face lit up as she entered their home and saw the surprise waiting on the table for her.
“Yennefer you didn’t… oh its so kind. Did you bake these fresh yourself?!” Triss asked as she picked up one tart that was sprinkled with strawberries and blueberries with a soft smile on her face.
“I did, I hope I cleaned all the berry juice off the counters and floors. I made a bit of a mess this morning.” She admitted with a chuckle.
“This was so kind of you, you really didn’t have to do anything for me Yenn.. oh how I love you. Truly you are one of the kindest people I know and I get you all to myself.”
Yennefer smirked, planting another kiss on her. “I would do anything for you, now try it darling. I want to make sure I was successful in my attempt.” Yennefer mused, brushing her cheek softly. Triss obliged and took a bite of the sweet tart.
“It’s devine.. You truly didn’t have to do this but you’ve outdone yourself.”
“There are plenty more where that came from, but this is the sweet treat I desire most.” Yennefer chuckled as she stepped forward and pulled Triss into her arms, she kissed the woman lovingly tasting the sweet berries on her lips. “I love you Triss, and I always will.”
“I love you too Yennefer, I love you more then there are stars in the sky.”
“Forever yours.” Yennefer whispered in her ear, “as long as there is moon and sun.”
