Work Text:

Jaskier was a little bit excited about the idea of Halloween, it was one of his favorite holidays. Of all the seasons it was the one where he could dress however he desired and on top of all of it everything just felt so cozy.

So of course he decided to take the time to decorate. He had to get it all done before Geralt or Yennefer came home so Ciri became his little helper. The two decorated their small home with pumpkins, bats, fairy lights of various Halloween inspired colors, little ghosts, and most importantly they began to bake and make the home feel as cozy as fall felt to Jaskier.

Ciri, as little as she was at only five, found pure enjoyment in baking with her father. Jaskier was the funniest and the softest of her three parents. Yennefer was strict yet kind and Geralt was still trying to figure out what kind of parent Ciri needed him to be. He wanted to be soft but he knew he also needed to punish her when she made mistakes that couldn’t be fixed by just a talking to.

Jaskier was softer with her then he probably should be, but he knew very well she needed it sometimes.

They sat together and continued to bake and cook while Halloween themed music played. Jaskier sang to it while Ciri jumped and danced around like toddlers usually do. He chuckled as he kissed her little forehead and nose, he then sat her down and gave her frosting and some sprinkles and let her have at the ghost and pumpkin shaped cookies while he decorated the vanilla pumpkin cupcakes.

Ciri continued to watch the TV while decorating, Jaskier made sure to play all the Halloween episodes from her favorite toddler shows while she played and decorated.

She did get distracted a few times by the show and the table got frosted. Jaskier couldn’t help but chuckle as he watched her happily decorate even if it was more the mahogany then the cookies he had made.

Jaskier was determined to make sure the home was cozy and happy for the remainder of their lives. Fall seemed to make it even cozier, he didn’t have the best childhood and he wanted to make sure their home was a good and safe place to grow up in for Ciri and he wanted to ensure his husband and wife were also happy in their relationship.

He was a stay at home dad with a band and a YouTube channel, Yennefer worked at a holistic shop, and Geralt was a contract bodyguard. Their family worked the best way it could through trust and Jaskier was the homemaker. “Ciri do you want to do something for mommy and papa?”

Ciri looked up with a big grin and nodded happily. “Yes yes!”

“Let’s make them both holiday cards to get them into the holiday mood, and I have a movie planned for us tonight okay? Do you want to make them both movie tickets?”

Ciri clapped her little hands and Jaskier handed her some paper. She got to work decorating the cards for each of them and then their movie tickets. Jaskier checked the clock and continued to work on dinner which was a tri colored pasta with cheese and vegetables cut into shapes.

For one it kept Ciri interested in food and had her trying things while it also made it fun and holiday centric. He checked the time again and new they’d be home soon for dinner. He popped some popcorn in the microwave and pulled out some bowls and placed candy and other treats on the table. He picked her up with a grin and they headed to the door.

As Jaskier opened their front door both Yennefer and Geralt pulled up to the house. Ciri waved at them with their papers in hand. Geralt and Yennefer stepped out of their cars and Jaskier set Ciri on the ground. She giggled and made her way towards them. “Mommy! Papa! Daddy and I made you stuffs!”

Geralt smirked and lowered himself to her level and Yennefer did the same her lilac dress flowing around her legs. “Hey pretty girl, how are you?”

She giggled and happily took their kisses before she handed them both their cards and movie tickets. “What are these little one?” Yennefer asked as she looked them over.

“Movie! Movie!” Ciri shouted happily. She took their hands, and while little, ushered them inside.

As soon as they entered the home they both stopped dead in their tracks. “This is beautiful.” Yennefer exclaimed as she looked at the decorations.

“It all smells wonderful,” Geralt remarked, “really nice.”

The two were sat around the table and Ciri in her seat. Jaskier grinned and brought them all their dinner, they happily chatted about their day and meal. Jaskier grinned as they complimented the holiday feel and meal.

Ciri happily gave them each a semi decorated cookie. The frosting was piled high and the sprinkles were in an interesting array. They smiled and all happily ate their cookies and they each thanked Ciri for her specially decorated cookies.

Yennefer and Geralt waited for instruction as Jaskier put popcorn in bowls and they headed to the couch. He made sure the lighting was just right, got them the large blanket, and lit a few fall scented candles before he sat down with the family. He was in between Yennefer and Geralt with Ciri in Jaskier’s lap.

Jaskier kissed his forehead and snuggled into his lovers while they sat and watched the Halloween film. Ciri was tired from her decorating and help with baking and cookie decorating that she passed out before they even got half way through the film.

“I’ll go lay her down,” Geralt smirked. “Then we can watch an actual Halloween film, not this fluff.”

Jaskier and Yennefer chuckled as Geralt moved to lay Ciri down in her bed. He kissed her forehead and wrapped her up in her blanket making sure to turn her nightlight on and headed out to the living room where he sat in between his family. Jaskier and Yennefer snuggled into him and turned on a slasher.

Jaskier couldn’t help but smile, he was so glad he could call this place home and have his family around him. He needed his family, and he always wanted to ensure they were happy at home.
