Hanguang-jun can take Wei Ying to the edge like no one else can, like no one else has. Despite them starting off as virtual strangers — this is where Wei Ying would wink, get it — Wei Ying trusts him. Feels safe with him. Hanguang-jun is amazing. He’s the absolute best.
Wei Ying’s maybe got a bit of a crush.
Except Wei Ying’s heart belongs to another, and always has. Lan Zhan has been gone for years though; Hanguang-jun is here, and every night they put on a show for their viewers, and every night Wei Ying’s debt to the Jins becomes slightly smaller. Not by much — not enough that Wei Ying can ever see a way out of here, not in this lifetime, not with the life expectancy most dreamers of his profession have — but enough to feel as though he’s working towards something.
