Summary
It had started with Mickey waking up that morning with an itch at the back of his mind. His temper was a little shorter than usual. But work had been difficult, so Mickey put it down to that. He had had his last rut only two weeks before, so he wasn’t due for another one for a while. Eventually, though, Mickey had to admit that there was more to it.
“You smell different,” Ian said over breakfast one day.
Mickey frowned. “I smell bad?”
“Not bad!” the redhead quickly defended himself. “Just different. I feel like I know the smell.”
Ian’s face took on a more contemplative expression, nostrils flaring slightly as he inhaled. When he opened his eyes again, his pupils were blown wide.
“Mickey,” Ian said, voice low.
“Ian,” Mickey replied in the same tone, muscles suddenly tense.
“Are you in rut again?” he asked.
AKA: Ian and Mickey's ruts sync up, and much fun is had.
