soobin is tired in every sense of the word, resting his head against the uncomfortable back of the seat as the bus winds through the city. he wants to let the hum lull him to sleep, but he’s preoccupied with worry for the other boy standing beside him. the bus was so packed that only soobin had managed to get a seat, and he would’ve playfully gloated about that had it been any other day.
but today they were tired, and yeonjun was holding onto the support pole with white knuckles, and soobin didn’t feel much like gloating. he didn’t even feel much like sitting, knowing that his hyung was likely struggling to stand beside him. he taps yeonjun lightly, and when he gets a hum in response, he speaks.
“ hyung, take my seat. ”
yeonjun shakes his head, grip tightening on the pole, and soobin knows, he knows, that yeonjun is trying to be a good hyung by letting him sit. but soobin is a good leader and he’s not going to let yeonjun continue to put himself last. so he taps him again until yeonjun looks at him, tiredness apparent even behind his mask and the black hair in his eyes.
“yes, soobinnie?” his voice is soft, gaze even softer as he awaits an answer.
soobin opens his mouth to beg yeonjun to sit, but decides on a different approach, one that he knows yeonjun won’t refuse. “can we switch? my legs are too cramped in this seat.” he whines just a bit, pouting behind his mask for the full effect, even though he knows the other can’t see it.
with a small sigh, yeonjun’s expression softens even more. he knows what soobin is doing, but how can he resist those puppy eyes? he nods, moving just enough for soobin to stand before he sits down, groaning quietly as he hits the seat. soobin’s free hand finds a home on his shoulder, gently massaging at the tension there, and he nuzzles into it.
“thank you soobinnie.”
soobin smiles softly, but it goes unnoticed by yeonjun’s tired eyes. that’s okay, though. “you’re welcome hyung. get some rest.” they still have at least a half hour on the bus. yeonjun nods against soobin’s hand before letting his head rest against the back of the seat, and finally lets himself relax.
he’s asleep in less than a minute, but soobin’s comforting hand doesn’t leave his shoulder until they reach their destination.
