I'll do it on my own.
"Hey, hun. Are you feeling okay?"
"I'm fine," Remus smiled towards his best friend. "Are you?"
"I'm good," Lily smiled back. "You look like you've got a lot on your mind. Are you sure you're okay?"
"I'm okay, no need to worry. My mum just wanted me to call her so I need to be heading home soon."
"Is everything okay?"
"I think so, but who knows honestly."
"Alright… well, I guess I shouldn’t keep you any longer. I'm here if you need me, alright? Same with James and Sirius. We're just a call away and you know you can come back and spend the night if you'd like."
"I know," he laughed, leaning into the hug Lily gave him no choice in participating in. "I'll talk to you tomorrow, alright?"
"Alright, love. Just a text or call away. Drive safe."
I'll do it on my own.
It was hard, there was no doubt about it. He knew he didn't have to do it on his own. He didn't have to go through all of this alone. He didn't have to keep it from his family. But he needed to. Remus needed to know he could do it on his own and needed to see that it was possible.
Maybe part of it was he felt like- no, he knew it would interrupt the schedules and peace of his family's night, but that was just part of it. He needed to know that if the family left him one day and he was left alone, that he could do it.

4:34 pm: Hey! How are you feeling?
4:36 pm: Hey, I'm alright. How are you feeling?
4:37 pm: I'm good. You left before I got back from work with James! I missed Moony time :(.
4:38 pm: Oh no, poor Padfoot! Whatever will he do? Will you survive this?
4:39 pm: No, most likely not.
4:40 pm: Damn. Oh well. Was good knowing you I guess *insert shrug emoji*.
4:41 pm: Hurtful, Moons! Hurtful!
4:44 pm: I'm sure you will be okay eventually.
4:45 pm: Heartless…. Anyways, what are you up to?
4:46 pm: Not much, just keeping myself busy, you know? What about you?
4:47 pm: Just sitting in bed. Are you up for a movie night by any chance? No pressure!
"Remus Lupin?"
"That would be me."
"Come on back, hun."
4:48 pm: Sorry, not tonight. How about tomorrow night?
4:49 pm: Tomorrow works! Let me know if you need anything or change your mind :).
4:52 pm: Thanks, you too, Padfoot. I'll talk to you later.
4:53 pm: Talk to you later.

"Okay, my dear. Anything else you need in the meantime?"
"Um… I think I'm okay at the moment. Thank you though."
"Alright, just come ask if you need anything. How about some orange juice?"
"Orange juice sounds nice," Remus shrugged, standing up from the chair. "Thank you again."
"Of course, Remus. Alright, I'll go get that and bring it out to you."
"Thanks again," he whispered almost silently.

6:07 pm: What's he doing this time?
6:09 pm: Is existing a good answer?
6:10 pm: To explain him being annoying? Yes, I accept the answer and understand.
6:12 pm: Thank fuck. He's just…. Listen, I love him dearly, but he's going to drive me up the wall! I'm going to cancel his dessert privileges if he doesn't shut up.
6:19 pm: Sorry, I got distracted. You do know he pays rent with you and Lily so you can't really take away his dessert privileges, right?
6:20 pm: All good, you okay? But he's annoying me!!
6:21 pm: I'm okay, Prongs, thanks. You chose him, you chose this fate.
6:22 pm: Let me know if you need anything. I'm a text or call away, okay? I know I chose him and I wouldn't ever not choose him, but holy shit- Don't believe him, Moony! I'm just beating him at Mario Kart and he hates it!
6:22 pm: Don't listen to Sirius, that's a lie! I would never complain about something so small like this!

"Remus?"
"Sorry, what did you say?"
"It's okay," the lady smiled softly. "I asked what brings you here today?"
"Oh, sorry. Um… sorry," he whispered as he harshly rubbed his eyes to stop the tears from forming in his eyes.
"Take your time, it's okay."
"I… I um, I'm having a hard time staying safe… and I don't want to go down that road again and I don’t trust myself even if I turn to my friends for help. I need someone and somewhere I will be safe. I was told you guys can help with crises?"
"We can help," the lady reassured immediately. "The centre helps everyone in midst of crises, we're glad you're here. Tell me more and we can figure out the next steps together. How does that sound?"
"Yeah… yeah that sounds good. Thank you…"
I can get help on my own.
